Lead Full-Stack Engineer – SmartBear Platform Services

SmartBear is seeking a Lead Full-Stack Engineer who is ready to make an impact! In this unique role, you will be working with internal teams around the globe to build the next generation of interconnected SmartBear applications and services. You can look forward to working with our best and brightest engineers, product managers, and UX folks to deliver meaningful centralized "Platform Services” that are consumed by multiple product development teams.

About the role 

As a Lead Full-Stack Engineer you will:  

  • Lead the development and architecture of the SmartBear Platform from a functional and operational point of view 
  • Work with a team of talented Engineers to design and implement scalable services that will be used for all our products 
  • Provide technical leadership for the front-end and back-end engineering stack by shaping the needs of all SmartBear products 
  • Contribute to and lead when required technical discussions and requirements analysis with cross-product and internal partners to drive alignment to cover all needs 
  • Collaborate closely with other teams to integrate our systems and services with theirs, and to ensure a seamless experience for our joint customers. 
  • Drive high engineering standards engaging in peer design and code reviews, grooming sessions, etc. 
  • Make sure code quality is in line with established guidelines 
  • Collaborate with teams of developers, testers, UX designers, product managers geographically spread across our different locations 

We are looking for you if you have:  

  • 10+ years of experience in Full-stack development, with a strong background in Typescript, Java, Node.js and React. 
  • Experience in high-volume SaaS (Software as a Service) applications working in cloud environment (we are AWS focused) 
  • Experience working with an AWS serverless/lambda microservice architecture 
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented and functional programming concepts and writing maintainable code 
  • Experience in building micro-service architectures deployed in a containerized environment using Docker/Kubernetes 
  • Experience building solutions on top of event streaming systems like Kafka, Active MQ, EventBridge, etc. (Event Driven Architecture). 
  • Experience with high load RDBMS (e.g., Postgres) – schema/query design & implementation 
  • Experience with NoSQL Databases (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB) 
  • Experience in CI/CD pipelines driving automation and quality 
  • Proficient in synchronous and asynchronous API design 
  • Knowledgeable in observability tools and frameworks  
  • Preferably knowing product security engineering and OWASP 
  • English written and verbal communication skills on at least B2 level
