Lead Frontend Engineer

Duration: 6 to 12 month contract with the possibility of extension depending on performance and business needs.
Hours: 40 hours a week. Must be able to work in Central Time.
Location: Remote. Open to Latin America-based candidates. Peru, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, and Ecuador are preferred locations.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Frontend Lead to drive the design and development of scalable, high-performance web applications. This role will lead frontend engineering efforts across customer-facing digital platforms, ensuring exceptional user experiences aligned with business and brand goals. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and backend teams to deliver modern, accessible, and responsive applications using the React ecosystem.
 

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of frontend solutions using React.js and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
• Architect scalable, maintainable, and reusable UI components and frameworks
• Partner with UX/UI designers to transform wireframes and concepts into polished, interactive experiences
• Establish and enforce best practices for frontend architecture, performance optimization, accessibility, and responsiveness
• Mentor and guide frontend engineers through code reviews, technical direction, and professional development
• Collaborate with backend teams to integrate APIs and ensure seamless data exchange
• Own and drive frontend technical decisions, including tooling, frameworks, and coding standards
• Optimize applications for performance, SEO, and cross-browser compatibility
• Implement and advocate for robust testing strategies (unit, integration, and end-to-end)
• Stay up to date with emerging frontend trends and technologies
   

What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications:

• 7+ years of frontend development experience with strong expertise in React.js
• Proven experience in a lead or senior technical role
• Strong proficiency in: JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript,HTML5, CSS3 (SASS/LESS preferred). React ecosystem (Hooks, Context API, Redux)
• Experience building large-scale, customer-facing web applications
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and asynchronous data handling
• Experience with performance optimization techniques
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern build tools (Webpack, Vite, etc.)
• Knowledge of web accessibility (WCAG) and SEO fundamentals
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Advanced English level (C1/C2 level proficiency)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in retail or e-commerce environments
• Familiarity with design systems and reusable component libraries
• Experience with Next.js or server-side rendering (SSR) frameworks
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Knowledge of micro-frontend architectures
