WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO US

The Financial Controlling function is part of the Global Finance Management organization. Together, we are responsible for accounting, financial controlling, consolidation, tax and transfer-pricing. 

As a Lead Financial Controller, you will own the financial reporting and controlling activities for a portfolio of North American entities within our SimCorp and Axioma legal structure. You will partner with senior leadership to drive business performance, identify financial risks, and recommend actions to improve financial performance and efficiency. 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Operational Finance North America, this role does not carry formal direct reports but will mentor and coordinate closely with financial controllers, including colleagues on our Manila-based shared service team, to ensure consistent, high-quality reporting across the region. 

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR 

  • Leading financial reporting in accordance with Group IFRS principles and local accounting standards (e.g., US GAAP), including reconciliation between frameworks 

  • Owning month-end close and year-end reporting, ensuring results are accurate and delivered on time 

  • Performing analytical reviews of reported results, identifying trends and variances, and providing actionable insights to senior leadership 

  • Performing controlling reviews of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations 

  • Researching and resolving technical accounting matters, including entries for new contracts and business assets 

  • Ensuring strong internal controls across financial processes and driving optimization and automation to reduce manual work 

  • Overseeing local tax and regulatory filings, ensuring accurate and timely submissions 

  • Coordinating internal and external audits, including preparation of supporting documentation 

  • Participating in finance projects and ad hoc tasks across the Global Finance Management organization 

WHAT WE VALUE 

Most importantly, you can see yourself contributing and thriving in the position described above. We expect you to be good at several of the following and able to, and interested in, learning the rest: 

  • 7+ years of experience in financial controlling or accounting 

  • Strong technical accounting skills, with the judgment to research and resolve complex issues independently 

  • Experience with revenue recognition frameworks (ASC 606 / IFRS 15) is a strong plus, particularly for those who've worked with SaaS or subscription-based contract structures 

  • A self-starter who operates effectively at both a strategic and operational level, comfortable driving leadership-level reporting one day and detailed reconciliations the next 

  • CPA preferred 

  • Comfortable working with ERP systems and an experienced Excel user; SAP experience strongly preferred, Workday experience a plus 

  • Thrives in a busy, deadline-driven environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail 

  • Service-minded, team-oriented, and consistently engaged 

This position is based in our New York office with a hybrid work setup (two days per week in office). Quarterly and yearly financial reporting are peak times for us, and longer hours should be expected during peak reporting periods. #Li-Hybrid 

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $113, 520 - $170, 280 USD . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including health care, leave, and retirement plans. Your total compensation may vary based on role, location, department and individual performance.
