Position Summary

The Lead Financial Analyst serves as a senior subject matter expert within Corporate Treasury, providing advanced financial analysis, strategic insight, and leadership across complex financial modeling, risk management, and Treasury-related initiatives. This role operates with a high degree of autonomy and is responsible for identifying financial and business risks, developing mitigation strategies, and driving data-informed decision-making that supports MPLX’s capital strategy and compliance priorities.

The position plays a critical role in integrating Treasury processes, systems, and analytics to enhance operational effectiveness and strategic outcomes. Leveraging deep expertise in financial modeling, risk assessment, and process optimization, the Lead Financial Analyst partners with internal and external stakeholders to address complex business challenges, influence strategic direction, and deliver actionable insights to senior leadership.

In alignment with broader Treasury objectives, this role leads and contributes to cross-functional projects, develops and tracks key performance indicators (KPIs), and continuously identifies opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, innovation, and best practices. The Lead Financial Analyst also serves as a mentor and resource to other team members, supporting capability development and ensuring high-quality deliverables across the function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recognized as an expert in the Treasury department both within the company and to internal and external business partners. Proactively identifies financial risks and advises on strategies to mitigate them.
  • Applies expertise and strategic vision to integrate a broad range of Treasury process and technology related ideas. Solves unique or complex process and technology-related challenges that have a broad impact on the business.
  • Works autonomously with minimal direction in a complex environment. Leads assigned project teams to achieve Treasury milestones and objectives.
  • Acts as a resource to others within the Treasury department, as well as other internal and external stakeholders. Collaborates with stakeholders to elicit, document, and prioritize business requirements.
  • May assist management with team oversight and review work of others. Trains, mentors, and assists in providing direction to other team members. Communicates business/commercial information to relevant departments with the express purpose of creating greater awareness. Presents financial insights and strategies to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Consistently identifies opportunities for improvement, experiments with innovative approaches, seeks out best practices, and reimagines current methods to increase efficiency, effectiveness, or quality. Constantly seeks to leverage automation to eliminate non-value add manual processes.
  • Leads smaller projects or components of larger projects, coordinating tasks, monitoring execution, and ensuring successful outcomes. Acts as a resource for other Treasury team members, offering guidance and expertise on complex financial issues. Builds and evaluates KPIs to provide strategic insight into identifying and communicating financial and business risks to internal and external business partners.
