Position Summary:
The Lead Extrusion Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating the lead extrusion machine to apply a lead sheath to core conductors. This role ensures product quality, machine efficiency, and workplace safety while maintaining production standards.

Essential Job Functions:

• Review documentation and work orders before starting operations.

• Set up work, including but not limited to:

  • Moving reels in the work area and onto/off of payout and take-up machines.

  • Feeding cable through machinery.

  • Changing and adjusting tooling as needed.

  • Labeling finished products.

• Monitor product quality throughout production.

• Maintain and clean the extrusion machine to ensure optimal performance.

• Store and organize supplies/materials effectively.

• Operate forklifts and handle cylinder changes safely.

• Document production processes and report any issues to supervisors.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

• Assist in training new employees.

• Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvements.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Experience in the wire & cable industry is a plus but not required.

• Ability to read and interpret work orders and technical documentation.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control.

• Basic mechanical skills and ability to operate industrial machinery.

• Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain one) is preferred.

• Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
