The Lead Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership in the design, development, and implementation of HVAC systems for commercial and residential projects. This role oversees engineering activities from concept through construction, ensuring projects meet client requirements, regulatory standards, budget expectations, and schedule commitments. The Lead Engineer mentors engineering staff and drives technical excellence for ABM industries.

- Lead the design and development of HVAC systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, exhaust, smoke control, and building automation systems.
- Prepare and review load calculations, equipment selections, ductwork layouts, piping systems, and energy analysis.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, ASHRAE standards, local regulations, and industry best practices.
- Develop engineering calculations, specifications, design narratives, and construction documents.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews on engineering deliverables.
- Manage multiple HVAC engineering projects simultaneously from conceptual design through construction administration.
- Coordinate with architects, owners, contractors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project success
- Support commissioning activities and troubleshoot system performance issues during construction and startup.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of HVAC design and engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading HVAC projects and engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, load calculations, psychometrics, controls, and equipment selection.
- Proficiency computer skills and in Microsoft applications
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
