About the role
Are you an excellent people leader with a expertise in asset management and performance? Looking to apply your engineering expertise to the fast-growing renewables sector? Join AGL’s Renewables team as our Lead Engineer – Wind and help us shape the future of energy.
In this high-impact role, you’ll lead a team of engineers supporting 8 wind farms and 575 turbines across Victoria and South Australia. You’ll drive asset strategy, reliability, and performance – not just diagnosing issues, but partnering with operations to implement agile, forward-thinking solutions that keep our wind assets running efficiently and sustainably.

What you’ll be doing:Lead and mentor a team of mechanical and electrical engineers, building capability and fostering a constructive, collaborative culture.
Develop and maintain asset management strategies and plans aligned with ISO 55000 and AGL’s performance goals.
Partner with site-based teams and leadership to assess technical issues, implement improvement plans, and support investigations (including RCA).
Champion condition monitoring and asset performance programs, ensuring proactive reliability improvements.
Support regulatory compliance, innovation initiatives, and capital projects that deliver value, safety, and operational excellence.
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred)
Chartered or working toward CPEng and National Engineering Register registration
Experience in power generation or heavy industry (oil & gas, plant, refinery experience welcome)
Proven leadership of technical teams – ability to coach, guide and grow a high-performing group
Strong communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills across technical and operational levels
Solid understanding of asset management principles, including lifecycle, risk, and performance
Project delivery experience – capital upgrades, emergent work, and condition-based maintenance
Be part of a highly motivated, engaged and solutions-focused team
Work on large-scale renewable assets, leading innovation and asset performance
Contribute to Australia’s transition to a cleaner energy future
Enjoy work-life balance: 3 days in the office / 2 days WFH
Travel to our wind farms in SA and VIC around twice a month
