Meet the Team:

The Bluetooth R&D team at Silicon Labs develops and maintains embedded Bluetooth firmware supporting Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The team focuses on advanced Bluetooth use cases including audio streaming, HFP calling, and LE Audio, delivering standards-compliant, efficient, and scalable solutions for Silicon Labs wireless products.

The team collaborates with cross-functional engineering groups including Bluetooth stack, PHY/RF, systems, validation, and customer-facing teams across multiple global locations.


The Role:

Silicon Labs is seeking a Lead Software Engineer – Embedded Firmware to work on embedded Bluetooth firmware development with a focus on audio-related features across Classic and BLE. This role involves hands-on design, implementation, and debugging of real-time embedded software in resource-constrained environments and contributes across the full product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
  • Implement features supporting Bluetooth audio, HFP calling, and LE Audio.
  • Develop and maintain real-time, timing-critical embedded software.
  • Contribute to wireless coexistence (CoEx) and multi-protocol solutions.
  • Debug and resolve firmware, integration, and interoperability issues.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and Bluetooth qualification activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development and customer issues.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing within the team.

Skill Set :

  • Strong core embedded systems knowledge, including C/C++ firmware development, real-time systems, and low-level debugging.
  • Strong core Bluetooth knowledge, including Bluetooth Classic, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and audio-related profiles.
  • Experience developing memory- and power-optimized embedded solutions, with awareness of performance and MIPS-sensitive designs.
  • Knowledge of wireless coexistence (CoEx) and multi-protocol embedded systems.
  • Hands-on experience delivering embedded software projects from design through release.
  • Demonstrated ability to think beyond standard solutions and independently drive technical outcomes.
  • Familiarity with modern development practices, including automation, scripting, and the use of AI-assisted development tools (GenAI tools, intelligent code assistance, analysis tools).
  • Comfortable working in iterative, fast-paced development environments (“vibe coding” mindset) while maintaining code quality.
  • Strong communication skills, including technical documentation, cross-team collaboration, and problem articulation.
  • Working knowledge of Bluetooth controller concepts and architectures is a plus.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, with 8+ years of experience in embedded firmware or wireless software development.
