Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Customer & In-Process Quality Engineer to drive quality excellence across customer-facing and manufacturing operations in an EMS/PCBA manufacturing environment. The role is responsible for reducing customer complaints and returns, improving in-process quality performance, strengthening quality systems, and ensuring compliance with customer and ISO requirements.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in EMS and Aerospace industries, hands-on expertise in quality systems, problem-solving methodologies, process monitoring tools, and customer quality management.

Key Responsibilities
Customer Quality Management
  • Drive reduction of customer complaints, customer returns, and RMA occurrences.
  • Improve defect detection at FQA and create quality awareness across teams.
  • Work closely with Cross Functional Teams (CFT) for timely closure of customer-reported issues.
  • Investigate customer complaints and implement effective corrective and preventive actions for non-detection issues.
  • Develop strategies to prevent issue escape from organization to customer.
  • Implement horizontal deployment of corrective actions across all projects and customers.
  • Monitor RMAs closely and ensure closure within defined TAT.
  • Ensure products consistently meet customer quality requirements and specifications.
  • Coordinate with Quality Managers to discuss and resolve customer quality concerns.
  • Provide timely updates to customers regarding quality issues, corrective actions, and status tracking.
  • Participate in product quality planning and quality control activities based on customer specifications.
  • Communicate customer expectations and feedback to internal quality and manufacturing teams.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update customer-required quality reports and documentation.
  • Train and guide quality teams in structured problem-solving methodologies and quality improvement practices.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities to proactively avoid quality issues.
  • Prepare and maintain product quality documentation in line with ISO standards and customer requirements.
  • Develop and improve quality processes based on ISO standards and audit findings.
  • Manage and coordinate ISO audits and support audit compliance activities.
  • Work with Quality Managers to improve Quality Management Systems based on audit observations and customer feedback.
In-Process Quality Management
  • Closely monitor FPY (First Pass Yield) and RTY (Rolled Throughput Yield) for assigned projects.
  • Analyze top recurring defects/issues and drive improvement actions with Cross Functional Teams.
  • Track and ensure closure of actions related to FPY and RTY improvement initiatives.
  • Provide timely technical clarifications to IPQA teams regarding in-process quality observations.
  • Correlate customer rejections with internal process rejections and drive containment/improvement actions.
  • Lead GYAT meetings and drive continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor critical process parameters using SPC, Cp, and CpK analysis.
  • Ensure timely documentation updates related to customer complaints and process changes.
  • Review and update Generic PFMEAs periodically.
  • Monitor closure and effectiveness of previous audit feedback and corrective actions.
  • Drive implementation of structured problem-solving methodologies such as:
    • 8D
    • Lean Manufacturing
    • Six Sigma
    • Root Cause Analysis
  • Utilize process monitoring and quality tools including:
    • SPC
    • Cp/CpK
    • GRR
    • PFMEA
    • Control Plans
Required Skills & Qualifications
Educational Qualification
  • Diploma / BE in:
    • Electronics & Communication Engineering (E&CE)
    • Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE)
    • Related Engineering disciplines
Experience
  • 8–10 years of experience in:
    • EMS Industry
    • Aerospace Industry
    • PCBA Manufacturing Environment
Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of:
    • PCBA manufacturing processes
    • In-process quality systems
    • Customer quality management
    • Aerospace quality requirements
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • SPC, Cp/CpK, GRR
    • PFMEA and Control Plans
    • ISO standards and audit management
    • Root Cause Analysis and CAPA implementation
    • FPY/RTY improvement programs
  • Good understanding of EMS manufacturing quality requirements and customer expectations.
Soft Skills
  • Strong communication and customer handling skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Leadership capability in driving CFT quality improvement actions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects/customers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification or exposure to:
    • Lean Six Sigma
    • Internal Auditor Programs
    • Aerospace Quality Standards
  • Experience handling international customers and aerospace programs is an added advantage.

  • Diploma or BE in Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, or related engineering discipline
  • 8-10 years experience in EMS, Aerospace, or PCBA manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience with SPC and Cp/CpK analysis
  • Hands-on experience with GRR, PFMEA and Control Plans
  • Experience with ISO standards implementation and audit management
  • Experience in root cause analysis and CAPA implementation (e.g., 8D)
  • Experience driving FPY/RTY improvement programs and process monitoring
  • Strong understanding of customer quality management and aerospace quality requirements
  • Strong communication, customer handling, analytical, and leadership skills
  • Certification or exposure to Lean Six Sigma
  • Exposure to Internal Auditor programs
  • Experience with aerospace quality standards and international customer programs
