Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead and own PDE scope for Heavy Duty Services GT Accessories upgrade projects in to deliver 3D piping designs, PMIs, arrangement drawings, Bills of materials using Enovia PLM with immaculate quality and adhering to timelines.
- Develop piping layout: Design and route piping and flexhoses adhering to line classes, which includes sizing and selection of suitable fittings, choosing the appropriate pipe supports while checking for clashes with neighboring MLIs.
- Develop mechanical system designs: Design modifications for Inlet, Exhaust, and ventilation systems
- Deliver assigned tasks by prioritizing Safety and Quality, while ensuring Delivery timelines and Cost
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and P&IDs
- Ability to work with minimal inputs by interpreting from as running unit records and laser scan data
- Proactively and effectively communicate progress, status, risk, needed inputs and target release dates to stakeholders.
- Participate in MMP and Daily Management meetings for task planning to achieve commitments for the week
- Apply Lean principles in daily management and strive for continuous improvement of our Standard work
- Ensure design integrity and no high-risk escaping defects in design deliverables, while driving improvements in FPY (error reduction).
- Ensure that interface characteristics between components are established and agreed upon by owners of interfacing MLIs.
- Manage concurrent Engineering processes, understand input from the different engineering disciplines, monitor progress and quality, and ensure schedule requirements are met.
- Effectively communicate and provide recommendations to internal and external GE customers through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical PDE data.
- Provide design support to cross-functional teams to improve or resolve design, performance, manufacturing, supplier, or field issues.
- Contribution to organizational initiatives to improve quality and productivity
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines
- 5-10 years’ experience in design field with strong expertise in NX(Unigraphics)
- Cognizant of state-of-the-art CAD software and advanced manufacturing technology including model based design.
- Strong knowledge of Piping and Accessories design in Power industry
- Strong 3D modeling and drawing expertise using UG NX in conjunction with Teamcenter
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (ASME Y14.5, ISO 1101 or applicable) relevant to the function.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, capabilities and assembly procedures.
Desired Characteristics
- Basic knowledge on Power plant components and its functioning
- Knowledge of Piping standards like ASME B31.1 (Power Piping, ASME B31.3 (Process piping) and Welding Practices
- Experience in accessories engineering design and/or accessories product or process experience
- Solid contribution in a similar role or previous position
- Able to prioritize from list of assignments that align with customer timelines
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to assertively communicate with senior leadership.
- Strong team player with the ability to effectively work under pressure.
- Focus on ownership, accountability and sense of urgency
- Experience driving Drawing à Model Based Product Definition initiatives
