The Role
Job Description SummaryA performance test engineer will be executing highly technical services on various gas turbine, steam turbine, and Combined cycle plant configurations. The successful execution of these global services will require that the engineer adhere to internal processes while being open to challenges that may arise. Engineers are accountable for the quality our customers feel when purchasing our services. Areas of customer quality include accurate/timely documentation, appropriate/timely installation of instrumentation, accurate collection of field data, various site activities, and communications.
The position requires approximately 50% travel in 1 to 4 week intervals, to destinations around the world. ** This is an estimate; travel requirements vary, with peak outage seasons seeing higher percentages and peak demand seasons seeing less travel.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Review commercial guarantees, test expectations/requirements, and develop performance test procedures meeting all On Time Delivery and First Pass Yield.
  • Prepare, plan, and lead execution of thermal performance tests beyond equipment scope (egg Emissions, Acoustics, BCP ...  )
  • Analyze data, calculate test results, diagnose, evaluate testing issues, and develop corrective actions as needed meeting all On Time Delivery and First Pass Yield.
  • Evaluate and Communicate performance risk issues and develop corrective action plans.
  • Prepare test reports for internal and external distribution with minimal Technical Leader oversight
  • Clear and Concise communication with internal and external customers regarding testing activities, schedules, and technical issues
  • Lead Project Kickoff, Risk Review, and parking meetings
  • Lead onsite testing activities, including resource and time management of extended testing team
  • Support continued development and improvement of performance tools/processes
  • Support new service development initiatives
  • Support peer reviews of test plans and data evaluation
  • Guide and mentor other test engineers

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience in Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years of industry experience in the areas of thermal performance testing and evaluation.
  • Ability to travel extensively in support of global assignments.
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics and thermodynamic cycles as they relate to gas turbines, steam turbines, or HRSG's.
  • Proficiency in English language.
  • Unrestricted UK work permit.
