Responsibilities 

 

Mechanical Engineering group at WITEC, supports a multitude of business units across the globe and various projects/product lines, in the mechanical design, drawing generation and finite element (FE) calculation areas.  As a key member of this group dealing with providing design & detailing solutions for business problems & new development, the job responsibilities are laid out as hereunder: 

 

Key Result Areas: 

  • Interdependently lead the design and development of Couplers products partnering with cross-functional teams across globe for locomotives /metros/ wagons following robust Engineering Process. 

  • Make delivering projects as per the cost & schedule targets set by the Business units a priority and ensure the desired quality in the output is met consistently. 

  • Must develop new, complicated 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings, create parts lists, detailed assembly drawings, and part outlines 

  • Good understanding of casting design, casting 3d modeling and machined drawings 

  • Should have 8+ years of hands on experience. 

  • Should have working knowledge in Solid works/Catia and Teamcenter 

  • Multi CAD expertise desirable – Solidworks /Creo/Autocad 

  • Ability to make accurate mechanical engineering drawings and create BOM for ordering 

  • Must work independently and able to influence peers to deliver projects on time with quality  

  • Support different activities for analysis, proposals, manufacturing, assembly, tooling, and inspection 

  • Should have knowledge of sheet metal parts manufacturing, casting design & machined parts manufacturing 

  • Should have good understanding of Design for Manufacturablility & Assembly (DFMA) principles 

  • Should be able to clearly understand the inputs and estimate hours required for execution 

  • Should have knowledge on GD&T as per ASME / EN standards and Stack up analysis 

  • Should have good knowledge on materials including carbon and stainless steel, heat treatment process

Qualification 

 

  • Bachelors /master’s degree in mechanical engineering with minimum 8 years of design experience in areas of Locomotive Couplers
