Role Summary / Purpose
The Lead Engineer – Mechanical Design for the Turbine Module contributes to the mechanical design, analysis, and development of Hot Gas Path (HGP) components across GE Vernova's F/HA class heavy-duty gas turbines. This role executes and owns focused engineering scopes within NPI, MYA, P2V, Repair, and Fleet & Services programs — with growing autonomy and accountability — while contributing to complex programs alongside senior engineers and technical leaders.
Working within the Turbine Module HGP team, you will apply FEA, component life assessment methods, and applicable design practices to assess and validate mechanical designs for assigned scopes — supporting design reviews with structured, clear conclusions. You will develop awareness of component and program-level risks — contributing to risk identification and mitigation discussions under the guidance of senior engineers and technical leaders.

What Impact You'll Make
Great engineers are built through the right challenges, the right environment, and the drive to keep growing. As a Lead Engineer in the Turbine Module HGP team, you will find all three — working on some of the most technically demanding components in power generation, alongside engineers who will stretch your thinking and sharpen your instincts every day.
Your contributions will matter from day one. The scopes you own, the analyses you deliver, and the problems you solve will be visible, meaningful, and recognized — building your reputation as a reliable, technically sharp engineer who gets things done.
If you are technically grounded, driven to build and prove, and genuinely hungry to grow — this is the platform where your expertise takes shape and your engineering career accelerates.

Job DescriptionWhat You'll DoDesign & Technical Execution
  • Execute the mechanical design and evaluation of Turbine HGP components for assigned scopes, applying sound engineering principles and adhering to GE Vernova design standards and product requirements.
  • Build and run FEA models; interpret results and validate conclusions with senior engineers before presenting structured, clear findings at design reviews.
  • Contribute to optimized component configurations — supporting trade-offs across geometry, performance, cost, material, and producibility — within program guidelines.
  • Apply component life assessment methodologies — LCF, Creep, Oxidation — for assigned component scopes to evaluate design margins and part reliability; contributing to reliability assessments under the guidance of senior engineers.
Program Execution & Problem Solving
  • Own focused, well-defined engineering scopes within assigned programs — NPI tasks, Repair workstreams, P2V, or MYA activities — delivering with self-starter discipline, task-level accountability, and quality. For complex programs, contribute as an active and reliable participant — executing assigned workstreams under the guidance of technical leaders.
  • Lead design reviews for assigned scopes; actively participate and support reviews for complex programs led by senior engineers and CTHs — building your understanding of review rigor and risk assessment at each level.
  • Resolve technical challenges within your scope independently and with confidence; escalate complex or ambiguous issues promptly — always with context, preliminary analysis, and a proposed next step.
  • Maintain personal task plans and delivery schedules — bring a proactive mindset to execution, anticipate risks early, and take initiative to keep your workstreams on track.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Engagement
  • Execute within cross-functional engagements — contribute to solutions for assigned component scopes across Heat Transfer, Aerodynamics, Manufacturing, Repair, PDE, and Fleet Engineering; work effectively within defined workstream boundaries, contributing to decisions owned at LPB1 and above.
  • Stay informed and apply learnings — engage with Fleet and DLE teams to understand current field and manufacturing challenges; translate relevant learnings into assigned tasks.
  • Participate and contribute in technical discussions and team reviews — share findings from assigned scopes clearly and engage actively in cross-functional problem solving.
Learning, Growth & Continuous Improvement
  • Bring a strong drive to learn and improve — actively seek feedback, apply new methods, and continuously build personal technical depth.
  • Bring curiosity and an open mind to new engineering approaches — actively explore better tools, methods, and ideas within your scope and beyond.
  • Share technical knowledge and process experience with newer team members as a natural part of team collaboration — contributing to a learning environment where everyone grows.
Operational Excellence
  • Identify and suggest improvements within your task scope — observe existing processes, spot inefficiencies, and bring well-reasoned improvement ideas forward for review and implementation.
  • Own your documentation — ensure accurate, complete, and timely recording of technical data for all assigned tasks, consistent with GE Vernova engineering policies and procedures.
  • Communicate task progress and findings clearly — keep team leads and senior engineers informed on scope status, technical outputs, and quality of delivery.
  • Contribute positively to a safe, inspiring, and inclusive workplace — through how you engage, collaborate, and grow as part of the team.
What You'll BringBasic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering — Mechanical, Design, Structural, or Applied Mechanics — from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in turbomachinery component design, mechanical analysis, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated execution track record — consistent delivery of quality results on focused, well-defined engineering scopes with minimal rework and growing independence.
  • Analytical and self-motivated — ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments, prioritize effectively, and maintain quality under competing demands.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve technical issues within defined scope independently — knowing when to escalate and doing so with context and preliminary analysis.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams — contributing effectively to shared goals within defined workstream boundaries.
What Will Make You Stand OutDesired Characteristics
  • Hands-on experience in gas turbine component design and analysis, with exposure to HGP components preferred.
  • Developing proficiency with ANSYS, NX/Unigraphics, and related engineering tools.
  • Exposure to GE Vernova gas turbine product lines — awareness of product context and current engineering challenges is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver quality results on focused, well-defined engineering scopes — with minimal rework and growing independence.
  • Understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret engineering drawings and BOMs.
  • Exposure to Python scripting or data analysis tools — and eagerness to develop this capability further.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments with attention to detail, composure, and consistent delivery.
  • Master's degree in Engineering is a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with good interpersonal skills and team orientation.
  • Growth mindset: curious, coachable, and open — actively seeks learning opportunities and takes initiative.
  • Exposure to 8D or structured problem-solving approaches is a plus.
