- Essential Responsibilities
- Lead design and engineering activities for boiler pressure parts and boiler area piping systems across new build, retrofit, and upgrade projects.
- Develop complete pressure parts arrangement drawings and 3D wireframe models in AutoCAD.
- Create and manage complete 3D piping layouts/models in PDMS/E3D, including equipment, supports, pipe racks, valves, cable trays, access, and maintenance provisions.
- Design and review piping systems including boiler start-up systems, pressure part related piping, critical piping, auxiliary steam systems, water systems, air systems, and fire protection systems.
- Preparation of Technical Specifications, Design code calculations & project related documents.
- Preparation of Composite Modelling, Component Modelling through AutoCAD as per contract requirements, work instructions, installation guidelines and best arrangement practices.
- Preparation of Data Matrix files for Input to PDMS & CAESER.
- Material Ordering Information (Tube, Pipe, Plate, Forging, Fitting, Fixtures, Shipping Frame, Temporary closure, Packers, etc.)/SAP MM creation, Purchase requisition. Linking with Stock through Stores availability.
- Generation of Component arrangement drawings for Critical components like Drum, Separators & Spheres.
- Field Weld Data Sheet drawings & sketches preparation
- Preparation of Preliminary Bill of Materials during Tendering stage / Shipping Bill of Materials during execution stage
- Co-Ordination with Other Engg/cross function disciplines at various stages to do design review, finalise the Terminal points of components, arrange to get the related Inputs to secondary components like attachments welded to the Pressure part components.
- IBR/ASME Code Calculation and IBR/ASME approval.
- Generation of Pressure Parts Arrangement drawings.
- Prepare and review engineering deliverables including P&IDs, line sizing, line lists, valve lists, system descriptions, datasheets, technical specifications, material requisitions, and engineering calculations.
- Perform or guide hydraulic calculations, pump head calculations, pipe sizing, wall thickness calculations, material selection, and piping stress analysis.
- Prepare, review, and approve arrangement drawings, fabrication drawings, isometric drawings, support drawings, and related 3D model outputs.
- Review vendor documents, 3D models, and fabrication drawings for technical compliance and project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards including ASME, IBR, API, IS, DIN, EN, NFPA, and customer specifications.
- Knowledge & working Experience in coal-based, gas-based, or combined cycle power plants is a plus
- Support project execution during procurement, manufacturing, erection, commissioning, and performance testing.
- Coordinate with customers, vendors, third-party inspectors, statutory authorities, and cross-functional teams for design reviews, approvals, inspections, and interface management.
- Resolve technical issues and support site teams during project execution.
- Drive standardization, productivity improvement, and quality in engineering tools, processes, and deliverables.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance within the discipline.
- Own discipline deliverables in line with project cost, quality, and schedule requirements.
- Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with excellent academic track record.
- Minimum 15+ years engineering experience in Conceptual, Basic & detail Engineering on Boiler Piping design.
- Significant experience in conceptual, basic, and detailed engineering for boiler pressure parts and piping systems.
- Strong knowledge of steam-water cycle, boiler pressure parts, and auxiliary piping systems.
- Strong understanding of applicable engineering codes and standards including ASME, IBR, API, IS, DIN, EN, and NFPA.
- Experience in supercritical, subcritical, CFBC, HRSG, FGD, and boiler/ESP upgrade or retrofit projects is preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, PDMS/E3D, Navisworks, CAESAR II/ROHR, and MS Office/Excel.
- Knowledge of AutoPIPE / AFT Fathom is an added advantage.
