The Role
Lead technical execution of Airbus Flight Management System programs: own architecture, design, requirements, testing and deliveries; manage schedule, cost, quality and customer expectations; drive innovation, reuse and NPD/NPI processes; lead cross-site teams, mitigate technical risks, and deploy Lean, Six Sigma and software-excellence initiatives to deliver avionics products.

Responsibilities
  • The candidate should have a good understanding of avionics products, processes, tools and methodologies and interface with the customer and other stakeholders for the program execution.
  • The candidate must be an expert in Flight Management System Product Architecture, systems and Design for Airbus FMS baselines.
  • Responsible for all program deliverables, including schedule, cost, scope, quality and customer expectations and effective utilization of resources (people, benches and other infrastructures)
  • Responsible for formulating strategies for effective growth, RMU acceleration, productivity, and people engagement in collaboration with SBGs/SBUs.
  • Driving program roadmaps, deploying improvement projects Lean Product development and Software excellence initiatives across all programs.
  • Driving innovation, creating growth ideas relevant to global & local markets, products and initiatives. 
  • Excellent focus on execution, should ensure responsiveness to customers, team and management and responsible to deliver on Flight Management programs as per customer commitments. 
  • Solid understanding on flight path management and cockpit systems business priorities & challenges and work within matrix organization to successfully execute the programs.
  • Interface with the program’s leaders in Phoenix, interact with OEMs, understand the business needs and drive the milestones. 
  • Manage all technical deliveries of the Airbus FMS IPT team that develops the concepts, detailed designs, specifications, prototypes, and tests new products.
  • Ensures design adheres to architecture and works with a first-time-right mindset to meet customer and human factors requirements. 
  • Identify technical risks early on and provide mitigation actions.
  • Communicate effectively with functional leads/team members and other stakeholders to arrive at a common architecture goal. 
  • Guide teams in investigating and developing engineering solutions, develop Transfer functions, perform Value prop, appropriate use of six sigma tools and methodologies, etc. to document the designs in accordance with the New Product Development and Introduction (NPD /NPI) process.
  • Candidate should be able to work in a collaborative and integrated working environment across global sites.
  • Meeting external customers for VOC/OVOC and coming out with ideas/opportunities for creating solutions to these problems
  • Actively contribute towards growth initiatives by developing high fidelity prototypes that support next-gen product evolution.  
  • Conduct trade studies/competitor/IP Analysis, guide associated teams, and help in arriving at the optimal decisions. Drive the technical innovation leading to revenue-generating patents. 
  • Own & drive reuse strategies/ product line strategies for the system 
  • Drive NPD and RDE transformation through continuous improvement and refinement of processes, methods, standards, guidelines, automation, and best practices
Qualifications
  • B.E / B.Tech / M.E / M.Tech in Electric/Electronics/Computers/Aerospace Engineering
  • Minimum of 15 years of avionics design, product development, and Software integration experience. Working experience and knowledge in Flight Management Systems product lines is preferred.
  • Hands on experience in the development of Software and System level requirements, systems tests development, and execution, automating tests.
  • The candidate must have good communication skills. Must have demonstrated this working with a global team of various functions, domain experts & multi-level management teams. 
  • Should have sound knowledge on Six Sigma and robust design practices. Must have demonstrated six sigma tools use age, robust design practices in full NPI’s and technology projects
  • Ability to drive Innovation, understand customer needs to generate breakthrough ideas or solutions.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment, Multi-tasking, Planning and working without direct supervision.   
  • Mentoring and coaching skills to guide team to excel.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting and reproducing the root cause of issues.
  • Expertise working with Aerospace standards, Architecture principles and familiarity with DO178B/C. 
  • Working knowledge in configuration management tools like CC/CQ/DOORS/Bitbucket/JIRA etc
  • Good awareness of the business and technological opportunities and challenges. 
  • Must have excellent communication, collaboration, and networking skills.
  • Strong personal leadership abilities and ability to handle multiple activities/priorities effectively

Skills Required

  • B.E / B.Tech / M.E / M.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, or Aerospace Engineering
  • Minimum of 15 years of avionics design, product development, and software integration experience
  • Working experience and knowledge in Flight Management Systems product lines
  • Hands-on experience developing software and system-level requirements, systems test development, execution, and test automation
  • Expertise with aerospace standards, architecture principles, and familiarity with DO-178B/DO-178C
  • Working knowledge of configuration management and ALM tools (CC, CQ, DOORS, Bitbucket, JIRA)
  • Sound knowledge and demonstrated use of Six Sigma and robust design practices in NPI projects
