Senior / Lead Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer

Sedgman Prudentia is seeking an experienced Senior / Lead Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to join our Brisbane team.
This opportunity would suit an E&I Engineer with 7+ years of relevant experience, whether you're already operating at Lead level or you're an experienced Senior Engineer ready to take the next step and assume greater technical ownership.
You will work across multiple project phases, from early-stage studies and design through to construction and commissioning support, collaborating closely with clients and multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver practical solutions to complex brownfield and minerals processing challenges.
What you'll do
- Lead and contribute to electrical and instrumentation engineering activities across studies and multidisciplinary projects.
- Take ownership of E&I technical deliverables, including specifications, calculations, drawings, scopes of work and work packs.
- Contribute to and lead early-stage engineering studies, FEED and detailed design.
- Work directly with clients to understand requirements and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Support site investigations, construction, commissioning and contractor activities.
- Review engineering work to ensure appropriate technical standards and project requirements are met.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers and designers as required.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 7+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience, ideally within engineering consultancy, heavy industry, resources or minerals processing.
- Strong electrical and instrumentation design capability.
- Experience contributing to or leading engineering studies, scopes and multidisciplinary projects.
- Experience preparing and reviewing engineering calculations and technical documentation.
- Practical site experience across investigations, construction and commissioning.
- Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and confidence working directly with clients.
- Ability to develop single line diagrams, termination diagrams and schematics.
- Competency in reading and interpreting piping and instrumentation diagrams.
- Understanding of electrical power system studies and modelling software.
Highly regarded
- Minerals processing or heavy industry experience.
- Brownfield project experience.
- RPEQ, Chartered Engineer or other relevant professional registration.
- FEED and feasibility study experience.
- Control systems design experience.
- Hazardous areas design and equipment specification.
- HAZOP, process safety or machine safety experience.
- Previous multidisciplinary engineering consultancy experience.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring engineers and designers.

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
- Minimum 7 to 10 years of engineering experience in Australia
- Experience in heavy industry electrical and instrumentation design, including reviewing and marking up technical drawings
- Provide construction and commissioning support
- Prepare and maintain project documentation including reports, design specifications, detailed designs, and work packs/scopes of work
- Site experience in investigations, scoping, commissioning, and contractor management
- Proficiency in spoken and written English and good client communication skills
- Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards
- Experience conducting early-stage studies for electrical and instrumentation systems, including electrical system calculations
- Ability to lead studies and projects in a discipline lead capacity
- Knowledge and experience working with heavy industry clients in minerals processing
- Registered/Chartered Engineer status (RPEQ preferable)
- Knowledge of control systems design
- Experience in a multi-disciplinary consultancy setting
- Familiarity with process safety and machine safety
- Experience with studies and FEED
- Proficiency in workshop facilitation (HAZOP)
- Project management skills
- Expertise in design and specification of electrical and instrumentation equipment for hazardous areas
- Proficiency in hazardous areas design
