This position will support and enhance existing electrical and electro-mechanical products, partner closely with manufacturing and quality, work directly with customers on technical issues, and contribute to product improvements and expansion of the Raleigh product portfolio.
An important initial responsibility will be supporting the transfer and stabilization of the CTI product line into the Raleigh operation. The engineer will work closely with the existing CTI team to learn the products, capture critical technical and customer knowledge, and help establish long-term engineering support in Raleigh.
This is an ongoing engineering position with responsibilities extending beyond the initial product-line transfer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day electrical engineering support for Raleigh product lines, including electro-mechanical switches and related products.
- Troubleshoot and enhance existing products while identifying opportunities to improve performance, reliability, manufacturability, quality, and cost.
- Develop and implement electrical and electro-mechanical product changes and enhancements using sound engineering principles.
- Support PCB assemblies, electronic components, interfaces, sensors, embedded systems, testing requirements, and related hardware as applicable.
- Build, evaluate, test, and validate prototypes and product changes.
- Work directly with customers to understand applications, product requirements, technical concerns, quality issues, and product performance.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Sales/Customer Service, and Engineering to investigate problems, determine root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Provide hands-on engineering support for production issues, test methods, documentation, tooling, product changes, validation, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain an understanding of product configurations, customer-specific requirements, drawings, bills of material, specifications, revisions, approved components, test requirements, and engineering changes.
- Support product quality, reliability, configuration integrity, and continuity of supply.
- Coordinate technical activities and priorities across multiple functions and provide clear communication regarding product, customer, quality, and engineering issues.
- Maintain accurate engineering drawings, specifications, test requirements, change records, risk assessments, and other technical documentation.
During the initial transition period, the Lead Electrical Engineer will:
- Provide dedicated engineering support for the transfer and stabilization of the CTI product line into Raleigh.
- Work directly with the CTI team to learn the product portfolio and capture critical technical, manufacturing, and customer knowledge.
- Develop working knowledge of HMI products including keyboards, joysticks, trackballs, PCB assemblies, interfaces, firmware/software dependencies, drawings, specifications, and testing requirements.
- Support documentation, training, equipment and tooling readiness, validation builds, production start-up, and technical issue resolution.
- Help ensure continuity of product quality, customer support, configuration integrity, and delivery throughout the transition.
- Travel as needed during the initial transition period, including extended time supporting knowledge transfer from the existing CTI operation.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field; Master's degree is a plus.
- Progressive electrical engineering experience supporting products in a manufacturing environment; senior-level experience is preferred but not required.
- Hands-on experience with electrical and/or electro-mechanical products, troubleshooting, testing, product improvement, and manufacturing support.
- Working knowledge of PCB development, electronic components, sensors, embedded systems, test methods, and manufacturing techniques.
- Ability to read and work with engineering drawings, bills of material, specifications, revisions, and engineering change documentation.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with manufacturing, quality, customers, and other cross-functional partners.
- Ability and willingness to travel as required during the initial product-line transition.
- HMI products such as keyboards, joysticks, trackballs, switches, lighted products, or similar electro-mechanical input devices.
- Customer-specific product development and direct interaction with customers regarding technical or quality issues.
- Product-line transfers, new product introduction, manufacturing transitions, or production start-up.
- Aerospace & defense, industrial, commercial, medical, or other technically demanding manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with applicable quality and regulatory standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 13485, IEC 60601, AS9100, UL, or CSA.
- Practical project-management or technical-lead experience.
The successful candidate will become a key technical resource for the Raleigh operation, help successfully transition and stabilize the CTI product line, provide responsive engineering support to manufacturing and customers, resolve product and quality issues, and contribute to the continued improvement and expansion of the Raleigh product portfolio.
