The Lead DevOps Engineer will lead a team of DevOps engineers within a Platform/Lab, and will hold accountability for the DevOps strategy across the Platform/Lab. This will also include measuring and reporting the effectiveness of process improvements to senior stakeholdersJob Description
- We would be looking for the following...
· 14+ years of software engineering experience, with a minimum of 10 years in DevOps or platform engineering roles
· Strong experience in DevOps engineering and platform design, with hands-on expertise in building and operating cloud-native platforms
· Deep knowledge of CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC), including Terraform, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and repeatability
· Hands-on expertise in GCP, Kubernetes (GKE), containerisation, and distributed systems
· Strong programming skills (e.g. Java, Python, Go, or similar) with an automation-first mindset
· Strong understanding and practical application of agile engineering practices
· Strong understanding of observability, SLOs/SLAs, and production operations
· Experience designing for resilience and scalability, including DR, capacity management, and performance optimisation
· Strong collaboration skills, working effectively across engineering, architecture, and product teams
It would be great if you also had…· Experience with Harness or similar modern CI/CD and release orchestration platforms
· Strong exposure to DevSecOps practices, including embedding security controls across the SDLC
· Exposure to AIOps, predictive monitoring, or AI-assisted engineering practices
· Experience optimising CI/CD pipelines and release processes for large-scale platforms
· Knowledge of API management platforms (e.g. Apigee X) and enterprise integration patterns
· Experience working in regulated environments, with an understanding of compliance, audit, and data controls
· Familiarity with cost optimisation and capacity planning strategies in cloud environments
