Summary:
As a Lead in the Data & Analytics Platform organization, it requires the ideal candidate to work on the design, development , deployment of scalable, high-impact solutions that drive data-driven decision-making across the organization along with governance & best practices. You will also be responsible for developing a high performance, scalable enterprise pipeline and reporting solution on the Microsoft Power BI platform. You will participate in various engineering activities throughout the project development lifecycle. You will be involved in proof of concepts where you will and present the outcomes of those efforts. You will have a consistent focus on emerging and mainstream design patterns and practices that help accelerate the organization in analytics consumption. You will work closely with business stakeholders and IT teams to make sure we are building the most effective software solutions. You will work to ensure proper data governance practices are in place. You will define best practices around security, permissions, and data access controls. You should be able to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, data engineers, and data scientists, to ensure alignment and integration of Power BI solutions with broader data initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Extensive progressive experience in data engineering, analytics platforms, or software engineering, including advanced use of enterprise BI and reporting tools (such as Microsoft Power BI).
- 5+ years hands on experience in Microsoft PBI. Demonstrated expertise in enterprise analytics and reporting platforms, with deep experience using Microsoft Power BI (including gateways, datasets, governance, and capacity management).
- Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes and tools.
- Strong knowledge on ingestion, transformation , datalake, data warehousing, data marts etc.
- Experience Modeling data into 3rd normal form and dimensional modeling
- Experience with CICD frameworks and common DevOps practices
- Knowledge of database systems, data models, APIs, and data pipelines.
- Experience in building large scale data pipelines, engineering and data analytics
- Strong understanding of software architecture, algorithms, and data structures
- Focusing on the administration and improvement of the reporting platform on scalability, reliability, performance, security and the streamlining of operations.
- Strong knowledge of Power BI Gateway for data source connectivity, Report server user logs, managing workspaces and user access.
- In depth understanding of DAX functions especially related to calculations required for common use cases such as semi-additive measures and time intelligence
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, business stakeholders, and IT professionals, to understand business outcomes and required solutioning to meet those objectives.
- Highly effective at performance tuning datasets and reports though optimization efforts.
- Highly knowledgeable on Power BI dataset modes (Import vs Direct Query vs Auto Aggregation), when to use each and how to optimize for the best user experience with each or through mixed modes.
- Experience monitoring platform utilization and planning for capacity management, growth and budgeting.
- Experience in creating and managing workspaces, gateways, logs, and Power BI admin work that goes along with it
- Strong leadership, analytical, engineering, problem solving, presentation and communication skills.
- Partners with stakeholders to define roadmaps, platform standards, and scalable reporting solutions.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies
- Experience with Google Big Query and leveraging this source in Power BI
- Certification in relevant cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, AZURE or Palantir).
- Experience in working with Microsoft Fabric and Copilot
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, R, or PowerShell.
- Knowledge of other BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Qlik)
- Knowledge and industry awareness of Microsoft Fabric, AI, Copilot and dataset deployment using GitHub.
- Hands on experience in SQL & Query optimization, working on RDBMS and Data Warehouse (ER and Dimensional modeling)
- Experience working in an onsite-offshore model.
- Awareness of Metadata, Data Quality and Governance needs of Data and Analytics platforms.
- Education/Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree preferred.
