The Lead Developer in the IMT department is a senior-level position requiring both technical expertise and leadership skills. They will be responsible for supporting development, maintenance, and troubleshooting for internal applications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing technical leadership to the development team. This includes guiding the team in choosing the right technologies and architecture, designing and developing software components, and ensuring that the team adheres to coding standards and best practices.
  • Responsible for managing the development team, including hiring, training, mentoring, and supervising team members.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the software developed by the team meets high-quality standards. This includes testing and debugging code, as well as ensuring that the team follows proper documentation and version control processes.
  • Responsible for staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in software development. They must be able to identify opportunities for innovation and implement them through the development process.
  • Must have excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with team members, stakeholders, and clients. They must be able to articulate technical concepts and explain them to non-technical stakeholders.

Competencies:

  • Understand and lead use of enterprise integration patterns, unit testing framework (JUnit), application frameworks (Spring), and web services and microservices
  • Understand client/server architecture, asynchronous message communication, process documentation, and software lifecycle methodology
  • Desire to learn and help others

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Methodical, consistent and patient approach to troubleshooting.
  • Participatory approach to team work.
  • Active participation in agile development processes
  • Assist less experienced developers with technical and design challenges
  • Ability to help prioritize and juggle many small and important projects.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field
  • 5 or more years experience using Java, C#, or another object-oriented programming language.
  • 3-5 years experience with JavaScript
  • 5 or more years experience using SQL.
  • 1 or more years experience using Linux OS.
  • 1 or more years experience writing and deploying applications in the cloud.

Experience in the following is a plus

  • React/React Native
  • AWS: S3, SQS, SNS, RDS, Lambda
  • Issue tracking
  • Git

Computer / Equipment Skills:

  • Experience with Linux, Mac OS, and Windows

Environmental Factors / Physical Demands:

Work is performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active customer and employee communication; access, input and retrieve information from the computer system; enter alpha-numeric data into a computerized system often while listening on the telephone. May be subject to bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds.
