About the Role
You’ll be working as a Lead developer on our Virtual Platform and Appliance Backend Team, responsible for delivering the software that helps solve the real-world security problems that IT professionals face. We develop the internal tools used by the security services team to keep our customers safe and informed.
A lead developer is responsible for providing the team technical direction to deliver high value, performant software solutions. The lead developer will provide technical guidance and direction to a team of developers through the design, implementation and automated/integration testing of our software. They will also provide guidance on best practices for running, monitoring, and maintaining our system. This is different from a Team Lead. The Team lead is responsible for leading the team and projects that team works on.
Some of your day-to-day responsibilities will be:

Provides solutions to issues in creative and effective ways. Understands the interrelationships of different disciplines. Directs the application of existing principles and guides development of new policies and ideas. Build well-designed, testable, efficient, secure code.

Share your deep understanding of the product and how Security Services delivers the service.

Understand and work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

Determine methods and procedures on new assignments.

Exercise judgment in selecting methods, evaluating, adapting of complex techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Your work is reviewed upon completion and is consistent with departmental objectives.

We value a culture of sharing, so every team has the opportunity to share their work with the entire department during our monthly R&D Demos. Once a year we hold a department-wide Hackathon, teaming up across all R&D teams over four days to collaborate and build cool ideas outside the normal project scope. About You
You’re an experienced software developer who has the ability to perform programming tasks and large engineering projects with independence and expertise. With the responsibility of the end-to-end delivery of projects, you are responsible for guiding and mentoring other staff members, and regularly lead technical projects. You demonstrate mastery over software development practices, and easily develop reusable design patterns. You easily enhance relationships and networks with senior internal/external partners who are not familiar with the subject matter often requiring persuasion, adapting your style to differing audiences and often advising others on difficult matters.

In addition, you have proven leadership experience from previous projects, regardless of title held. You have the ability to perform programming tasks and large engineering projects with Independence and expertise. You will be responsible for guiding and mentoring other staff members and will regularly lead technical projects. You have a high level of mastery over software development best practices and building reusable design patterns.
You have a history of delivering successful projects, as well as some lessons learned from failures.
