Job duties include the following:
- Manage physical database design and implementation, database security and monitoring including: install/upgrade/patch Oracle and PostgreSQL databases; deploy data models; administer database security as per company policy.
- Database performance tuning including: resolve complex performance issues using available tools; developing alternatives to solve tuning challenges; evaluate complex tuning challenges in databases and queries.
- Evaluate new features/products including: evaluating new features in Oracle database technology to improve the productivity of development teams and document and educate team members about new features and products.
- Lead setup and development of test environments for Enterprise projects and releases and improve and automate the scripts to setup these environments.
- Assist and support application teams in database production migration activities and resolve database issues during the cutover/migration.
- Monitor database backups, resolve backup issues and implement best practices, recover databases as needed to retrieve historical data, develop shell/perl scripts to automate database.
Requirements:
- Must have Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics with a focus in Computer Science.
- Must have 8 years of experience in database administration working with Oracle releases and PL/SQL.
- The stated experience must also include the following: (1) 3 years of programming or software development using SQL, PL/SQL, Unix, and Shell Scripting; (2) 1 year of experience preparing development and test database environments.
