Volta has created a data collection and enrichment ecosystem for curated EP lab data which is fed into a physician validated, machine learning methodology to support complex AF solutions. Mission

    As Lead Data Science, you will play a key role in shaping the future of Volta's AI technology. You will lead a multidisciplinary Data Science team and contribute directly to the development of innovative machine learning solutions embedded in medical devices used daily in electrophysiology labs worldwide. 

    Reporting to the VP Innovation, you will combine scientific expertise, technical leadership and people management to drive the development of next-generation AI algorithms while ensuring compliance with medical device quality and regulatory standards.

Your Responsibilities 

    Technical Leadership 

    • Define and drive the Data Science roadmap in alignment with product and business priorities.  

    • Lead the design, development and validation of state-of-the-art Machine Learning and Deep Learning algorithms.  

    • Ensure scientific excellence and promote best practices in AI research and development.  

    • Stay up to date with the latest advances in AI and identify opportunities to integrate new technologies into Volta's products.  

    • Support the definition of data strategies and contribute to the continuous improvement of data collection pipelines.  

    Team Leadership 

    • Lead, mentor and grow a team of Data Scientists, Data Engineers and PhD researchers.  

    • Foster a collaborative, innovative and high-performance culture.  

    • Coach team members in both technical and professional development.  

    • Coordinate priorities, allocate resources and ensure timely project delivery.  

    Product Development 

    • Collaborate closely with Software Engineering, Clinical, Regulatory and Product teams throughout the product lifecycle.  

    • Contribute to software architecture discussions involving AI components.  

    • Ensure production-ready, maintainable and high-quality code.  

    • Participate in the preparation of technical documentation required for regulatory submissions.  

    Scientific & External Collaboration 

    • Represent Volta Medical at scientific conferences and technical events.  

    • Contribute to publications, patents and collaborations with academic partners.  

    • Communicate AI strategy and technical achievements to executive leadership, partners and investors. 

Your Profile

    Education & Experience 

    • PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or a related field.  

    • 10+ years of experience developing Machine Learning solutions in an industrial R&D environment.  

    • 5+ years of experience leading technical teams or mentoring Data Scientists.  

    • Experience working in regulated environments (Medical Devices, Healthcare, Automotive, Aerospace or similar) is a strong plus.  

    • Experience bringing AI models from research to production.  

    Technical Skills 

    • Strong expertise in Machine Learning, Deep Learning and statistical modeling.  

    • Excellent understanding of model development, evaluation and deployment.  

    • Strong programming skills in Python.  

    • Experience with PyTorch, Scikit-learn, NumPy, Pandas and related ML libraries.  

    • Familiarity with software engineering best practices (Git, testing, CI/CD, Docker).  

    • Good knowledge of Linux environments.  

    • Experience with cloud computing and MLOps is a plus.  

    • Signal processing knowledge would be highly appreciated.  

    Soft Skills 

    • Strong leadership and coaching abilities.  

    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.  

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.  

    • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and international environment.  

    • Fluent English (spoken and written).
