The Lead Data Engineer is responsible for delivering complete, accurate, and trusted data solutions across multiple source systems and modern cloud platforms. This role performs advanced hands‑on data engineering work while providing technical leadership on complex initiatives, enabling scalable data architecture and data‑driven decision‑making.
This position is part of the Global IT organization supporting SCIEX, Molecular Devices, and the Life Sciences Platform. This position reports to the Senior Manager - IT Applications and will be fully remote from India.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Partner with business stakeholders to design and deliver scalable data warehouse and analytics solutions.
Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines, orchestration workflows, and database objects across Azure SQL, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, and Power BI environments.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve data pipeline reliability and performance in production environments.
Provide technical guidance and act as a point of escalation through code reviews, design reviews, and knowledge sharing.
Lead hands-on development of complex data integrations, ensuring alignment with data architecture and enterprise standards.
Maintain data models, technical documentation, and version control practices.
Essential requirements of the job include:
7+ years of experience designing and developing enterprise data warehouse and analytics solutions.
Strong hands-on experience building and optimizing ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory and/or Microsoft Fabric.
Advanced experience working with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric).
Experience in monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing production data pipelines and data warehouse performance.
Proven experience providing technical guidance on complex data engineering work while remaining hands-on.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Experience collaborating with offshore or distributed development teams
Exposure to data quality, governance, or security practices
No travel required; collaboration across global teams may require flexibility in working hours
