Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Data Engineer on the Technology Analytics team. This lead engineer will combine hands-on data engineering with advanced analytics to drive operational insights for senior technology leadership. This engineer will build and optimize pipelines, integrate data from diverse systems, design scalable models and schemas, and strengthen our transition from descriptive reporting to predictive and prescriptive analytics. This role is central to a new operating model focused on operational excellence, requiring strong data fluency, exceptional SQL skills, and the ability to communicate insights that influence leadership decisions.
In this role, you will:
- Lead complex initiatives with broad impact and act as key participant in large scale software planning for the Technology area
- Design, develop, and run tooling to discover problems in data and applications and report the issues to engineering and product leadership
- Review and analyze complex software enhancement initiatives for business, operational or technical improvements that require in depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors
- Make decisions in complex and multi-faceted data engineering situations requiring understanding of software package options and programming language and compliance requirements that influence and lead Technology to meet deliverables and drive organizational change
- Strategically collaborate and consult with internal partners to resolve highly risky data engineering challenges
- 5+ years of Database Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Relational database and data repository experience
- Experience designing reusable ETL solutions using Python and/or SSIS
- Knowledge and understanding of Data Models, ERD, Dimensional Models and Metadata
- Experience working with complex datasets using SQL
- Advanced data modeling skills and experience in capacity planning
- Proficiency in data quality analysis
- Ability to develop business metadata and data dictionaries
- Experience analyzing data defects, identifying the root cause and defining the remediation options.
- Release process knowledge and experience using ServiceNow and/or DevSecOps
- Working knowledge of EPL including GitHub, Liquibase
- This position offers a hybrid work schedule

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
$119,000.00 - $206,000.00
