Job Description

We are a team of three data engineers looking for a hands-on Data Engineering Team Lead. We have already built an award-winning data platform using the Microsoft tech stack and successfully decommissioned the previous on-premises solution, so you really don’t have to worry about outdated technologies like punch cards. :)

Your key stakeholders will include not only the Head of Data Science and the Head of Data Analytics but also all internal engineering teams and the architecture guild. We want you to understand our architecture and help us continually push it forward with improvements and the latest trends. Additionally, we expect you to be the owner and go-to person for all data engineering activities across the technology department in multiple locations. We would also like you to understand our ambitious goals and participate in delivery while keeping in mind agile development practices and a reasonable trade-off between proof of concepts (PoCs) and long-term scalability.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and mentor the Data Intelligence team, ensuring performance aligns with company goals.
  • Develop and execute roadmaps reflecting the data strategy.
  • Translate business needs into technical specs and facilitate stakeholder communication.
  • Promote collaboration across departments and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Oversee data models, quality frameworks, and governance for consistent reporting.
  • Provide data architecture guidance and manage ETL/ELT solutions.
  • Ensure data accessibility for informed decision-making and address data quality issues.
  • Meet the required skill matrix for the position.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant full-time experience in the area of data management, data design, business intelligence or data analytics
  • Deep understanding of data integration tools, ETL/ELT processes, data modelling concepts and data warehouse architecture
  • Practical experience with DWH platforms like Google BigQuery, Snowflake, Azure Data Warehouse or MS SQL Server
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and programming languages used for data transformations
  • Excellent knowledge of database principles, strong proficiency in SQL and programming languages used for data manipulation and data analysis
  • Ability to transform business and domain specific requirement into complex technical specification and communicate them clearly to stakeholders
  • Proficient in English (both written and oral form)
