Job Description Summary
The Lead Data Engineer is a senior delivery role responsible for building and delivering the data engineering work that turns ARKANCE's data and AI direction into working reality for clients. Where the advisory team shapes what a client should do, this role builds it: the pipelines, models, integrations, and data foundations that make data and AI usable in practice.
The Lead Data Engineer works on both sides of the business. On the client side, they lead the hands-on delivery of data engineering across engagements, taking direction from the advisory team and producing solutions that hold up in production. Internally, they help build the frameworks, templates, and reusable assets that let ARKANCE deliver this work consistently and at scale, shaping both the internal data capability of the practice and the client-facing delivery approaches it relies on.
As a lead, the role sets the technical standard for data engineering delivery, mentors others as the capability grows, and partners closely with the Data & AI Consultant to ensure a clean bridge from advisory intent to delivered outcome. It is a build-and-deliver role at heart, with the seniority to define how the work is done well.
Job Description
Client Delivery
- Lead the hands-on delivery of data engineering across client engagements, including data pipelines, integrations, transformations, and the data foundations that support analytics and AI.
- Take direction from the advisory team and the Data & AI Consultant, converting assessed needs and designed target states into working, production-grade solutions.
- Own the technical quality of data engineering deliverables, ensuring they are reliable, maintainable, and fit for the client's real operating environment.
- Work directly with client technical teams to deploy, integrate, and hand over solutions in a way the client can sustain.
- Advise on the practical realities of data infrastructure, surfacing constraints and risks early so delivery plans stay grounded.
Internal & Client-Facing Frameworks
- Build and maintain the reusable data engineering frameworks, patterns, and accelerators that let ARKANCE deliver consistently across clients.
- Shape the internal data capability of the practice, including the tooling, pipelines, and data foundations behind ARKANCE's own accelerators, benchmarks, and delivery assets.
- Develop client-facing delivery approaches - reference architectures, integration patterns, and standards - that raise the quality and repeatability of engagements.
- Contribute to the practice's technical standards and definition of done for data engineering work.
Technical Leadership
- Set and uphold the technical standard for data engineering delivery across the practice.
- Mentor and develop other engineers as the delivery capability grows, sharing patterns and raising the bar on quality.
- Partner with the Data & AI Consultant to ensure advisory intent translates cleanly into delivered outcomes, and feed delivery insight back into how the practice scopes and estimates.
- Stay current with the data engineering landscape - platforms, tooling, and integration approaches - and bring proven practice into ARKANCE's delivery.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Duties and responsibilities are subject to change based on business needs.

Qualifications- Substantial hands-on data engineering experience, including data pipelines, integrations, transformations, and production data infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver data engineering work in a client or customer-facing setting, translating requirements into reliable, maintainable solutions.
- Experience building reusable frameworks, patterns, or standards that improve delivery quality and repeatability, not just one-off builds.
- Strong grounding in data architecture, data quality, and governance, with the judgment to make sound trade-offs under real-world constraints.
- Working understanding of how data foundations enable analytics and AI, and the ability to partner with advisory colleagues on data and AI initiatives.
- Technical leadership experience, including setting standards and mentoring other engineers, with the seniority to define how the work is done well.
- Familiarity with the AECO industry and the Autodesk ecosystem preferred, or the ability to build that context quickly.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
