Site Overview
Established in 2000, the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is our multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.
Role Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for integrating and developing propulsion concepts that align with business needs. Your contributions will extend to supporting system-level decisions for architecture designs, conducting trade studies, and playing a vital role in shaping the overall business strategy. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead programs and projects, collaborating with internal and external customers to create innovative and sustainable propulsion solutions for the next generation of aircraft across various commercial products. 
- Develop and execute aero-thermal models for new concepts and derivative engines, aligning input from component design teams with customer requirements. 
- Coordinate and collaborate with a cross-functional team of adjacent disciplines (aero, mechanical, systems) to assess technology capability and maturity in support of business objectives. 
- Execute the analysis and evaluation of assigned projects, ensuring they meet business standards, practices, and program requirements. 
- Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects, consistent with engineering policies and procedures. 
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments to program and engineering leadership. 
- Participate in organizational efforts for assigned projects, including the establishment of processes and best practices. 
- Act as a presenter in technical and program reviews. 
- Lead the cultural transformation at GE Aviation, coaching and mentoring, fostering inclusive environments, and driving a systematic approach to Lean. 
Ideal Candidate:
- Ideal candidate should have experience in an aero-thermal and/or performance-based engineering position and gas turbine fundamentals. 
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university and 5+ years of experience in an aero-thermal and/or performance-based engineering position 
- Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university and 3+ years of experience in an aero-thermal and/or performance-based engineering position 
- A solid understanding of thermodynamics and gas turbine fundamentals. 
- Strong oral and written communication skills. 
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excited about propulsion and the aero-thermodynamic disciplines. 
- Experienced in working independently and with global cross-functional teams. 
- Experienced with engine cycle modeling or component aero design. 
- Proficient in NPSS, Python, C++, or similar programming languages. 
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and leadership skills. 
- Ability to guide and influence others. 
- Possess problem analysis and resolution skills. 
- Apply systems thinking to address challenges.
