The Role

Are you ready to shape the future of cybersecurity at one of America's most trusted media companies? The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking a visionary Cybersecurity Architect to design and implement comprehensive security frameworks that protect our digital assets and critical infrastructure. You'll serve as our security subject matter expert, partnering across business units to ensure secure technology deployment while transforming our cybersecurity strategy from reactive to proactive operations. WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Design and implement enterprise-wide security architecture frameworks aligned with organizational security objectives

  • Develop and maintain security protocols for broadcast systems, digital platforms, and critical infrastructure

  • Create secure network architectures with proper segmentation and access controls

  • Design identity and access management (IAM) solutions supporting modern authentication methods and zero-trust principles

  • Establish cloud security baselines and integrated security frameworks for development operations

  • Partner with engineering teams to embed security throughout the technology lifecycle

  • Develop threat models and control strategies fully integrated into design, development, and operation of technology platforms

  • Maintain security risk management plans that balance operational efficiency with security requirements

  • Participate in security review processes for technology initiatives, acquisitions, and product implementations

  • Conduct security architecture reviews for new tools, applications, and infrastructure changes

  • Provide technical guidance during security intake processes, ensuring early security integration

  • Collaborate on security governance for emerging technologies including artificial intelligence implementations

  • Design and implement security monitoring and detection capabilities to support threat defense

  • Develop disaster recovery procedures and business continuity plans for critical operations

  • Lead post-incident analysis and architecture improvements based on threat intelligence

  • Support security service transitions while maintaining architectural oversight

  • Partner with leadership teams as a strategic security advisor

  • Work cross-functionally with development, operations, and business teams to embed security best practices

  • Support integration activities by implementing secure onboarding processes and assessments

  • Mentor security team members and promote cyber-awareness across the organization

  • Effectively communicate security program importance to obtain support and buy-in from stakeholders

  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred

  • Generally, 8+ years experience in related field preferred; certification is required in some areas

  • Master's degree or equivalent professional experience in cybersecurity architecture a plus

  • Extensive cybersecurity experience with proven expertise in enterprise security architecture and cross-functional collaboration preferred

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Demonstrated success in leading security initiatives and driving organizational change

  • Security architecture expertise with knowledge of industry frameworks, network security, identity management, cloud environments, security tools, programming languages, and encryption technologies

  • Experience with security standards, threat assessment, compliance frameworks, and data privacy regulations

  • Strong communication, analytical, project management, teamwork, and leadership skills

  • Industry experience, advanced certifications, emerging technology security knowledge, incident response background, and security automation expertise
