Sysco LABS’ enterprise technology is present in the end-to-end foodservice journey, enabling the sourcing of food products, merchandising, storage and warehouse operations, order placement and pricing algorithms, the delivery of food and supplies to Sysco’s global network and the in-restaurant dining experience of the end-customer.
The Opportunity
We are currently on the lookout for a competent, self-motivated Lead/Associate Lead – Cloud Services for our Server Systems Engineering team with a deep understanding of Linux Systems, Microsoft Azure and AWS to collaborate, lead change, automate and inspire teams towards delivery excellence at Sysco LABS.
Responsibilities:
Leading and providing technical guidance to a team of engineers supporting the Linux platform across European entities
Driving infrastructure provisioning, deployment, architecture reviews, and monitoring initiatives to develop and enhance an advanced infrastructure support model for Sysco Europe’s on-premises and public cloud environments
Collaborating with product engineering teams to design, build, operate, and maintain secure, auto-scalable, and highly available Linux-based cloud environments optimized for the lowest total cost of ownership
Serving as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Linux workloads, providing effective solutions, managing migrations, and resolving issues promptly
Overseeing patch management, coordinating patch schedules with Security, Change Management, Incident Management, Server EOL management and ensuring seamless updates to development teams
Managing ITSM queues and ensuring adherence to defined SLAs for infrastructure incidents and problems, consistently resolving tickets to end-user satisfaction while following ITIL best practices
Enhancing the knowledge base and engineering standards by creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation
Safeguarding the security of Sysco LABS’ infrastructure, data, applications, and configurations
Driving automation efforts using tools such as Ansible, Chef, Bash scripting, CloudFormation, and Terraform to streamline operations
Monitoring system alerts proactively, identifying and addressing system and application issues before they impact users
Operating within the EU time zone and participating in a 24x7 rotational support roster to ensure continuous end-user support
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field
Relevant certifications in RedHat, Oracle Linux, or SUSE, with 8+ years of proven experience as a Linux Administrator
Strong expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting issues within Linux environments
Certified in public cloud technologies, with hands-on experience in architecting, deploying, cost and capacity optimization, scaling, and disaster recovery implementation and validation
Extensive experience with Nutanix, VMware, or other hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) platforms
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Perl for automation and process improvement
Familiarity with automation tools like Ansible and Chef to streamline configuration and deployment
A solid understanding of networking concepts and containerization technologies
Knowledge of Storage Management – Dell Compellent/PowerStore/PowerScale, HPE Nimble, Software defined, NetApp will be and added advantage
Knowledge of monitoring tools such as New Relic and DataDog is a plus
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly articulate risks and technical information to stakeholders at all levels - from executives to operations and development teams
