Job Description

In this role, you will lead highly complex cross functional projects/initiatives involving multiple applications and market segments including the analysis of upstream and downstream system and stakeholder impacts contributing to the achievement of corporate and team objectives. You will establish and maintain collaborative relationships with Technology and other stakeholders through development review and implementation of business requirements to improve and arrive at a positive member experience supporting Wellmark’s strategies. In addition, you will actively coach and mentor team members to support intellectual curiosity and an environment of continual growth and learning.

This individual is highly analytical and data‑driven, operating comfortably in a project‑manager mindset to make sound decisions, manage complexity, and clearly articulate recommendations to stakeholders. Strong communication skills, resilience, and the ability to navigate challenging conversations are essential.

They bring experience in vendor and relationship management, including building governance processes, dashboards, and SLAs, and can represent Wellmark’s best interests while maintaining effective partnerships. Above all, they balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution and a commitment to developing others.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of experience with business or systems analysis, support, configuration, or related experience with an application or system in an operational environment
  • Ability to perform, document, and/or guide others through a series of related steps and take action to improve existing conditions and processes
  • Ability to identify issues or inconsistencies; obtains relevant information, relates and compares data from different sources and identifies alternative solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information or solutions to stakeholders
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving/troubleshooting and continuous process improvement skills
  • Proactive self-starter with effective time management skills and the ability to independently organize and prioritize projects/initiatives and tasks. Flexible and adaptable to change
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills demonstrated through effectively driving results through the coordination and collaboration of cross-functional project/program teams across divisions
  • Analytical problem-solving skills and attention to detail; ability to identify and approach complex problems from different angles and apply technical knowledge to policies/procedures
  • Proven efficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to coach and mentor others through guidance or feedback
  • Demonstrated understanding of health insurance concepts

Additional Information

a. Analyze, define, and validate business requirements for highly complex projects/initiatives to proactively minimize errors and manual interventions resulting in desired customer experiences.

b. Provide consultation and consultative review associated with initiatives pre and post implementation across market segments, applications, and processes to ensure the timely delivery of outcomes through business requirements and the execution of test cases.

c. Lead point of contact and liaison between technology and business for customer impacts stemming from application and system process disruptions.

d. Lead cross-functional projects/initiatives by collaborating and coordinating with team members, technology, and stakeholders in determining best practices for process improvement to align outcomes with customer expectations.

e. Establish and maintain strong business relationships with vendors, government bodies or other external entities to ensure system functionality and integrations are implemented and maintained accurately and efficiently including the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) and Federal Employee Program (FEP).

f. Keep informed, support and adhere to regulations ensuring systems and processes are compliant with corporate policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

g. Actively and consistently provide coaching, mentoring, and sharing of knowledge to team members factoring in different learning styles and skillsets.

h. Use a variety of techniques to ensure applications are being validated according to the testing plan. Write and execute test cases, documenting traceability and findings ensuring accurate and timely outcomes. Coordinating testing efforts and reporting of results to leadership and other stakeholders as needed. Collaborate with system integration testing resources to continually update and develop testing best practices.

i. Collaborate across stakeholders to confirm desk-level procedures and process/system documents are created/updated.

j. Ensure accurate tracking of all hours in reporting system(s) for all work efforts.

k. Other duties as assigned.
