The Lead Business Intelligence Developer plays a critical role in transforming data into actionable insights across RK. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with business partnership, helping drive the strategy, delivery, and governance of enterprise reporting and analytics solutions.
At RK Industries, you'll work directly with business leaders, executive stakeholders, and technical teams to build scalable reporting solutions, modernize analytics capabilities, and help shape the future of RK's data platform. You'll partner closely with the Senior Reporting Architect while leading RK's Citizen BI Developer Program and helping establish the standards, governance, and self-service capabilities that empower business users across the organization.
This is an opportunity to remain deeply technical while leading high-impact initiatives, mentoring developers, and building a modern analytics environment powered by Power BI, Azure, and Microsoft Fabric.
What You'll Do
- Partner directly with business leaders, executive stakeholders, and technical teams to identify opportunities and translate business requirements into scalable analytics solutions.
- Own reporting and analytics initiatives from discovery and design through deployment, adoption, and ongoing support.
- Lead RK's Citizen BI Developer Program by establishing governance, standards, training, certification, and self-service analytics best practices.
- Define and enforce data governance, security, and quality standards across enterprise reporting solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, semantic models, and reporting infrastructure.
- Deliver complex and high-visibility reporting solutions using Power BI, SQL, Azure, and Microsoft Fabric technologies.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to BI Developers and data platform team members.
- Collaborate with the Senior Reporting Architect on the long-term strategy, architecture, and evolution of RK's data platform.
- Present recommendations, reporting solutions, and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and best practices across Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure, and modern analytics platforms.
What You Bring
- 8+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, data engineering, or enterprise reporting.
- Expert-level Power BI experience, including DAX, Power Query, semantic modeling, and enterprise reporting solutions.
- Strong SQL and data modeling experience with enterprise-scale reporting environments.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Azure data technologies, or modern cloud analytics platforms.
- Experience designing scalable enterprise data models, data warehouses, and dimensional modeling solutions.
- Proven experience delivering reporting and analytics solutions from business requirements through deployment and adoption.
- Experience building, governing, or supporting self-service BI, Citizen BI, data literacy, or data governance programs.
- Experience mentoring developers, establishing technical standards, and providing hands-on technical leadership.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Applications, Engineering, or equivalent
- 8–15 years of proven experience in data engineering, reporting, or analytics
- 8+ years advising on, managing, and delivering technical solutions, including stakeholder engagement and requirements gathering
- 5+ years of expert-level Power BI experience, including Power Query, DAX, Data Management Gateway, SSAS Tabular Connector, and enterprise semantic model design
- 8+ years of industry experience in data engineering or analytics involving data integration, modeling, analytics, reporting, Azure, or AWS cloud solutions
- 5+ years with Microsoft SQL Server and SQL/T-SQL, or PostgreSQL and PL/pgSQL
- 5+ years advising on, managing, and delivering data solutions
- Experience designing, launching, or leading a self-service or Citizen BI governance program
- Experience owning solution implementation end-to-end from requirements through deployment
- Experience mentoring, coaching, or providing technical leadership to developers or engineers
- Strong executive presence and communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Hands-on Microsoft Fabric experience, including OneLake or other Fabric workloads
- Experience with at least one data modeling discipline, such as enterprise data warehouses or star schemas
- Experience with at least one of Master Data Services, Data Quality Services, custom data integrations, data migrations, data governance, IoT, data science, big data, or custom development
- Knowledge of Azure Data Platform technologies or on-premise solutions including SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, .NET, or Active Directory
- Ability to work in an office environment in Denver and reliably commute
- Ability to occasionally travel between corporate offices and jobsites within the Denver Metro Area
