Founded in 2008 in Lithuania, Vinted began as a way for friends to find new homes for clothes they no longer needed. In 2019, we became Lithuania's first unicorn! We're looking for a Lead Backend (Golang) Engineer to join the Ads Team in the Vinted Marketplace domain. Our goal is to build an internal ads platform that will deliver a native ads experience at scale, integrating ads into all areas of Vinted and significantly contributing to the overall revenue. You’ll collaborate with experienced colleagues to develop a robust and scalable platform and lead engineers to accelerate ads innovation.
The project is still in the early stages, we are building many things from scratch, so prepare to move fast and try out a bunch of new things. We are constantly building new features and evolving existing ones, with experimentation being key. We balance the "fail fast" principle to avoid analysis-paralysis, but we also take the time to understand the benefits of different alternatives before diving in. We're not afraid to make mistakes. We learn from them.
In this position, you’ll- Work alongside backend and site reliability to build a robust and scalable platform.
- Shape our Golang standards.
- Apply Agile and Lean principles in your work. We don't rigidly adhere to a single framework. We view Scrum, Kanban, and other methodologies as tools, selecting the most beneficial one for the team to achieve its goals.
- Collaborate with other developers through GitHub pull requests and code reviews. Actively looking for solutions to use AI in automating the reviewing process.
- Use AI tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code and others to improve your code.
- See your code to affect millions of users almost instantly. Our main branch gets rolled out straight to production on each merge. We deploy many times per day.
- Work with diverse tech stack, including: languages: Go, Ruby, Scala; databases/storage: MySQL, monitoring/observability: Prometheus, Grafana, data streaming: Apache Flink . We don't expect you to be familiar with all of them beforehand, but we expect you will be excited to learn them fast.
- Apply different levels of testing: from testing your code to performance testing to investigate various potential bottlenecks.
- Take ownership of critical alerts and business metrics for your team to ensure our services achieve 99.99% availability.
- You can effectively lead and mentor other engineers, setting technical direction and fostering growth within the team.
- You bring hands-on experience designing, building, and scaling AdTech solutions
- You have solid backend engineering skills, with expertise in Golang or similar programming languages.
- You're eager to master new technologies and concepts, always ready to embrace new challenges and grow as a specialist.
- You think practically, choosing the best solutions, avoiding over-engineering, and prioritizing simplicity.
