CLA is growing and seeking to hire an experienced Lead Back-End Engineer; this role leads the design and implantation of scalable, secure back-end systems and APIs. They drive architectural decisions, mentor team members, and partner with stakeholders to deliver strategic, high-impact solutions.
About the role:
Architecture, Development & Integration
- Lead design and implementation of API development and integration to enable secure, high‑performance data exchange across systems.
- Drive development of complex server‑side logic and services using scalable, maintainable patterns.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, product, and business stakeholders to define technical strategies and deliver innovative solutions.
- Translate high‑level business objectives into technical roadmaps aligned to organizational goals.
Security, Quality, Operations & Documentation
- Enforce security and compliance measures to protect sensitive data and mitigate risk.
- Own testing strategy and quality assurance processes to ensure robust, reliable systems.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and deployment guidelines.
- Monitor and proactively optimize system performance; resolve complex issues and ensure adherence to SLAs.
Planning, Delivery & People Leadership
- Provide project estimates and lead planning efforts to sequence work for on‑time, high‑quality delivery.
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership providing coaching, development, and performance management.
Requirements •
- Experience with programming languages commonly used in back‑end development (e.g., Python, Java, C#, Node.js) required.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
Education
Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of relevant experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field preferred
