THE CONTEXT

The Lead API Architect will be responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing the organization’s API strategy and architecture. This role focuses on creating scalable, secure, and efficient API solutions that facilitate integration between various systems, applications, and services within the organization while enhancing overall data accessibility and user experience.

As Lead API Architect, your key reponsabilities will include:

  • API Design and Development: Lead the design and development of APIs that meet the needs of various stakeholders, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and standards.

  • Building API Services: Demonstrate expertise in building robust and scalable API services from conception to deployment, including microservices architecture where applicable.

  • Architecture Strategy: Develop a comprehensive API architecture strategy that aligns with business objectives and supports the organization's technology roadmap.

  • Data Domain Design: Design data domains and data models that structure how data is accessed and organized through APIs, ensuring efficiency and logical consistency in the data layer.

  • Security Implementation: Implement robust security practices to protect APIs from threats, including user authentication, data encryption, and access control protocols.

  • Integration Solutions: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement integration strategies for APIs, ensuring seamless connectivity between different services, applications, and third-party providers.

  • Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor API performance metrics and implement optimization strategies to ensure high availability, response times, and resource efficiency.

  • Documentation and Standards: Create and maintain comprehensive API documentation, enabling developers and third parties to understand and utilize the APIs effectively.

  • Innovation and Best Practices: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in API development to drive innovation and continuously improve API offerings.

  • Leadership and Mentorship: Lead and mentor a team of API developers and engineers, fostering a collaborative environment focused on best practices, innovation, and skill development.

  • The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in API design and development, including experience in building API services, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the leadership skills needed to guide teams in delivering high-quality API solutions that drive the organization’s digital transformation and enhance user experiences while effectively managing data domains.

YOUR PROFILE

  • At least 5 to 7 years’ experience designing and developing complex APIs in corporate or high-growth environments.

  • Operational mastery of API security protocols and GDPR requirements related to APIs.

  • Proven track record in implementing enterprise-wide API strategy, governance, and documentation.

  • Recognized leadership with demonstrated ability to manage technical teams and lead cross-functional projects.

  • Excellent analytical, synthesis, and communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
