Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Lead AI Systems Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and governance of enterprise AI platforms across our organisation.

In this role, you will own the end-to-end engineering lifecycle of enterprise AI technologies—including Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, Microsoft Power Platform, and Workato—ensuring they are secure, scalable, and aligned with enterprise architecture, security standards, and regulatory requirements.

Working at the intersection of Engineering, Security, Architecture, Data, and Business teams, you will help shape our enterprise AI strategy while enabling responsible AI adoption through modern automation and AI technologies. This is an opportunity to influence how AI is deployed across the organisation and deliver solutions that improve productivity, collaboration, and business outcomes.

What You'll Do

As our Lead AI Systems Engineer, you'll lead the engineering, deployment, and continuous improvement of enterprise AI platforms. You'll design secure and scalable AI solutions, build integrations between enterprise systems, and establish governance standards that support responsible AI adoption.

Working closely with Security, Architecture, Legal, Privacy, Data, and Business teams, you'll ensure AI platforms comply with organisational policies and regulatory requirements while delivering measurable business value. You'll also mentor engineers, establish technical standards, evaluate emerging AI technologies, and contribute to the organisation's long-term AI roadmap.

What Will Make You Successful

You'll thrive in this role if you enjoy solving complex technical challenges and translating business needs into scalable AI solutions. You'll be comfortable working across multiple disciplines, influencing stakeholders, and balancing innovation with governance and security.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Strategic and forward-thinking, with the ability to shape enterprise AI adoption.
  • A collaborative leader who enjoys mentoring others and establishing engineering best practices.
  • An excellent communicator, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to a wide range of audiences.
  • Passionate about continuous learning and keeping pace with the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
  • Comfortable working in cross-functional, matrixed environments with Engineering, Security, Legal, Privacy, Data, and Business teams.
  • Accountable, proactive, and committed to delivering secure, high-quality enterprise solutions.

Our Technology Stack: Our AI ecosystem includes technologies such as:

  • Microsoft Copilot & Copilot Studio
  • Google Gemini & Vertex AI
  • Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI)
  • Workato
  • Azure (preferred), AWS, and Google Cloud Platform
  • REST APIs & Enterprise Integration
  • Python, PowerShell, JavaScript / TypeScript, and C#
  • Docker, Kubernetes & CI/CD
  • AI Security, Identity & Access Management, and Data Governance

Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • 7+ years' experience in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 3 years' experience implementing or supporting enterprise AI, automation, or productivity platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with at least two of the following:
    • Microsoft Copilot (M365 or Copilot Studio)
    • Google Gemini
    • Microsoft Power Platform
    • Workato
  • Experience designing secure enterprise solutions using Identity and Access Management (IAM) principles.
  • Strong experience integrating enterprise applications using APIs, web services, and automation technologies.
  • Knowledge of Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience implementing enterprise security controls such as OAuth, RBAC, Conditional Access, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Fluent English.

Desirable Experience

Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:

  • Azure AI Foundry or Google Vertex AI

  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or Bicep)
  • Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, or DevOps practices
  • Python, PowerShell, C#, JavaScript, or TypeScript
  • Prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, or agentic AI frameworks (e.g. LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI)
  • Enterprise integration platforms or iPaaS technologies
  • AI platform governance, observability, and operational monitoring
  • Experience working within regulated industries or government environments
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as GDPR, the EU AI Act, DORA, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, or CMMC
  • Experience leading technical teams or mentoring engineers
  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
