Job Summary
The AI Lead in Compliance Testing is a senior SLOD practitioner within Enterprise Risk Management responsible for leading AI-related compliance testing, governance, and credible challenge activities. The AI Lead will oversee and directly manage the controlled growth and governance of the department's internal AI testing tool as well as independently execute quarterly, risk-based testing / credible challenge of enterprise AI use cases, including agentic AI and large language models (LLMs). The role will integrate deep consumer compliance expertise with strong IT and AI risk acumen to ensure AI capabilities are designed, governed, and monitored in alignment with the Compliance Management Program (CMP), enterprise risk frameworks, and regulatory expectations. The AI Lead will partner across Compliance, Technology, Model/AI Risk, Data Governance, Privacy, Legal, and other relevant business teams to assess controls, challenge design, and drive continuous improvement.
Essential Job Functions
AI Governance and Oversight: Provide governance, oversight, and controlled expansion of the Compliance Testing Team’s internal AI tool including use-case intake, prompt library / agent inventory growth, change management, access controls, documentation standards, monitoring, and issue tracking. - (25%)
AI Testing & Credible Challenge: Execute the quarterly, risk-based testing program to perform independent credible challenge of enterprise AI use cases (including agentic AI and LLMs), assessing compliance, control effectiveness, output risk, and customer impact. - (25%)
Cross-Functional Risk Partnership: Collaborate with Technology, AI/Model Risk, Enterprise Risk, Data Governance, Privacy, Legal, and business stakeholders to review AI initiatives, challenge control design, and escalate risks in alignment with risk appetite. - (15%)
AI Control Assessment: Evaluate controls across the AI lifecycle, including data inputs, model/prompt design, access management, human oversight, change management, monitoring, third-party dependencies, and documentation. - (10%)
Consumer Compliance Integration: Translate regulatory requirements (UDAAP, Fair Lending, ECOA/Reg B, TILA/Reg Z, FCRA, Privacy) into AI-focused testing procedures, control expectations, and issue identification. - (10%)
Reporting and Governance: Develop clear, defensible workpapers, credible challenge documentation, and executive-ready reporting for compliance and other applicable governance committees. - (5%)
Program Enhancement: Enhance AI testing frameworks, methodologies, and tools; identify ways to responsibly automate testing activities while maintaining governance. - (5%)
Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as SME for AI compliance testing, providing guidance, mentoring, and training to Compliance Testing staff, when needed. - (5%)
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
8+ years of experience in consumer credit, banking, and/or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Compliance, Risk, Information Systems, Business or related Field.

The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.
You must be work authorized in the United States on a full time basis without the need for any sponsorship now or in the future from any employer or organization. The Company cannot offer employment to F-1 (student) visa holders.
Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates can immediately enroll in Bread Financial’s 401(k) plan.
All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Associates have discretion in managing their time away from work through the Flexible Time Off (FTO) program and may need to notify and receive approval from their manager prior to taking the time off. Associates (except those located in Illinois) receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time (“PSST”) upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois associates receive 40 hours of Illinois PSST upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year and 40 hours of Illinois Paid Leave upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois Paid Leave must be used before associates in Illinois will be approved to take FTO.
Hired associates will be able to elect the purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December. You will be eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.
