This position will be based at our Houston, TX Territory Office and will be eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
Responsible for the development and implementation of meaningful acquisition, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies to significantly grow giving with St. Jude donors and supporters in a geographic area. Includes activating, supporting and inspiring high value volunteers, committees, and Advisory Councils to identify and acquire donors through relationships, events, and activations.
Identifies key initiatives that advance area goals, while communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Responsible for the planning and implementation of activities within assigned area and can include high-revenue signature events/relationships, core programs for general and multicultural markets. Works with event planners, committees, and partners to maximize revenue and grow events. Trains incoming new staff member when hired and works on special projects as assigned
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Uses fundraising knowledge and interpersonal and sales skills to create and build relationships with volunteers, and donors primarily through face-to-face interaction and strategic communication, to recruit new donors/volunteers and grow existing relationships, including referrals. Works with high-level committees and Advisory Councils to leverage the networks and connections.
2. Serves as the fundraising strategist for a signature ($1M+) event, high value volunteer committee, and an important midlevel donor portfolio. Uses fundraising knowledge to provide support, motivation, direction, and resources for fundraising initiatives to volunteers, donors, and sponsors through various communication channels, including personal visits, written correspondence, and electronic communication.
3. Recruits, trains, develops, and manages multiple executive level volunteer advisory councils and committees.
4. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to achieve defined KPIs and financial goals. Monitor progress, assess results and measure success against KPIs pivoting where necessary and/or recognizing key learnings. Communicate insights to the appropriate teams or individuals.
5. Builds, maintains, and manages a blended portfolio of corporate, individual leadership annual donors, major gift, and leadership volunteers. Prepares and makes five- and six-figure+ solicitations regularly.
6. Collaborates with program owners to ensure a high-level of donor and volunteer relationship management. Includes communicating regularly to enhance and knowledge of programs, collaborating on individual performance metrics and coordinating analysis of the financial impact of stewardship efforts.
7. Analyze and identifies appropriate next steps in an effective stewardship strategy and to communicate key details of the donor relationship. Maintains the integrity of the donor database through careful management of a large volume of donor records and ensures the accurate recording of all donor interaction in order to provide the infrastructure necessary for analysis.
8. Provides meaningful touchpoints to donors, including personal notes, articles, invitations, and other outreach in an accurate, relevant and timely fashion.
9. Represents ALSAC-St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in all areas in such a manner as to reflect positively on the hospital and our fundraising organization.
Minimum Requirements:
- Requires knowledge of fund raising and public relations.
- Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and public speaking skills for face-to-face interaction with event volunteers/sponsors.
- Multicultural marketing experience preferred.
- Speak and write in a clear and understandable manner for internal/external relations.
- Understanding of data processing applications.
- Understands complex verbal or written instructions and is able to execute on those instructions.
- Demonstrates clear communication and the ability to influence others
- Ability to relate to donors.
- Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal skills, and public speaking skills.
- Demonstrated negotiating and listening skills.
- Knowledge ordinarily acquired through a bachelor’s degree or 6-8 years of experience.
- Involves working evenings and weekends.
