Job Summary
The Lead Accounts Payable (AP) Processor will be responsible for providing AP support to various MHHS departments and vendors. Responsible for accurate, timely and discretionary auditing and processing of Accounts Payable documents, including interpreting and applying established policies and procedures. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver quality customer service to internal and external customers. Will serve as a mentor and resource for Accounts Payable staff. Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
Five (5) years of experience in accounting, finance or accounts payable environment required.
Strong problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills.
Strong knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures.
Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division quickly and accurately.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner.
Principal Accountabilities
Processes complex invoices for high-volume and/or high-impact vendors
Inputs general account information into various systems according to established accounting practices and purchasing policies to ensure accurate and timely payments.
Audits Purchase Order and Non Purchase Order invoices for processing and payment.
Contacts appropriate vendor or department head to verify receipt of merchandise or to verify charges.
Leads research efforts for complex credits, past due items, and statement issues
Responds to vendor and internal inquiries regarding invoices, serving as a resource for escalated issues
Performs audits on checks, statements and balances accounts.
Generates, analyzes, and researches AP reports to identify issues and ensure smooth transition across systems
Responsible for providing high quality customer service to both internal and external Memorial Hermann customers, resulting in timely resolution of issues and inquiries.
Serves as mentor and resource for department staff, providing assistance on overseeing day-to-day tasks and supporting department projects as assigned.
Serves as Liaison between AP staff and management.
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
