Shipco Transport Inc., a leading international cargo transportation company, has an immediate opening at our MIA branch located in Medley, FL for an experienced LCL Import Supervisor.
We are looking for a candidate who is proactive, dynamic, highly motivated, reliable, and who understands and appreciates the importance of a team effort. The candidate should also possess the ability to ‘think outside the box’, think and work outside their local market, and be aware of various time zones and regional norms for all parties involved.
Key Responsibilities
- First escalation point.
- Monitor that the group alias emails are attended to correctly and in a timely fashion.
- Assist and coach Team members in problem-solving.
- Coordinate days off in the department, in agreement with the Operations Manager.
- Handle customer-requested revisions and manifest corrections.
- Make operational decisions in the absence of the manager.
- Communicate with steamship lines, customers, and agents.
- Confirm delivery of freight upon customers’ request.
- Assist the Department Manager/Branch Manager in staff recruitment.
- Lead and direct the work in the department.
- Implement procedures to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.
- Maintain relationships with carriers and customers.
- Assist with closing files and suggest profit improvements.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Excellent organization, coaching, and delegation skills.
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of import operations, including customer service and/or documentation.
- Strong data entry skills required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and an aptitude for a fast-paced, multi-tasking, customer service-minded environment.
- Bilingual (Spanish-speaking is preferred).
- Reports to the LCL Import Manager.
