Location: Liberty, MO
Magna is seeking a Layout Technician to perform dimensional inspections and measurement activities that ensure components, assemblies, and tooling meet engineering and quality standards. This role utilizes advanced metrology equipment including Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), portable CMMs, Keyence Scanners, and other precision measurement systems.
What You'll DoProgram and operate CMMs, Keyence Scanners, portable CMMs, and other precision measurement equipment
Perform dimensional layouts and inspections to verify product conformance to engineering specifications
Analyze measurement data and prepare dimensional reports
Conduct capability studies and support statistical analysis activities
Calibrate hand tools, gauges, and inspection equipment
Evaluate check fixtures and coordinate corrective actions when issues are identified
Develop gauging instructions and inspection methods
Assist with sample submissions and quality documentation
Support problem-solving activities, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives
Maintain metrology records and gauge management systems
Associate's Degree in a technical field preferred, or 3-5 years of related metrology, quality, dimensional inspection, or CMM experience
Proficiency with PC-DMIS software for CMMs, measurement systems, and portable CMMs
Strong experience using portable CMMs and associated measurement software
Full understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and the ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
Experience with Keyence Scanner systems, CM4D, Datamyte, PolyWorks, FARO equipment, or similar metrology software preferred
Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), including Gage R&R, Bias, and Linearity studies
Strong mathematical aptitude, including geometry, trigonometry, and basic math functions
Basic knowledge of CMM and measurement equipment maintenance
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions using technical and mathematical information
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a self-driven approach to work
Ability to lift equipment up to 40 pounds unassisted
Ability to bend, stand, walk, climb, and perform physical activities in a manufacturing environment
