THE OPPORTUNITY
The purpose of this role is to provide advice, manage litigation, undertake legal research and legal project work. Working as part of the Insurance for NSW Business Unit and reporting to the Senior Manager - Legal, this role will be responsible for ensuring EML performance targets and organisational objectives are met while providing a high level of service delivery to our stakeholders.
This is a full time, permanent position for a lawyer in our Sydney office with flexibility to work from home.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide expert advice on legislative, regulatory, legal, policy and guidelines requirements affecting workers’ compensation claims to enable sound, evidence-based and legally accurate decision making.
Managing, assisting, and reviewing legal advice including in respect of common law damages claims, s151Z recovery and statutory workers’ compensation claims.
Keeping up to date with case law and precedents affecting claims, premium and the scheme.
Providing practical technical advice about strategic management, both generally and in relation to specific claims.
Collecting and reporting on identified scheme trends and individual cases.
Provide assistance with advice and/or drafting of legal notices and correspondence.
ABOUT YOU
Demonstrated experience in a similar role with strong litigation and claims management experience, working within a personal injury environment.
Excellent understanding of the Workers compensation legislation and the associated regulations (pre and post 2012 legislative amendments).
Applicable tertiary legal qualifications.
Preferably 3 years PQE, in legal practice.
Current unrestricted NSW practice certificate preferred.
