General Summary:

In this transitional role, the Launchpad Associate will gain hands-on experience across multiple departments. This position is designed to help individuals develop work experience while building foundational competencies that are essential for sustained, successful employment. The role requires a positive and professional attitude, flexibility in learning new skills, and an ability to work within a team to contribute to Goodwill’s mission and goals. Participants will be expected to show growth in their job knowledge and skills throughout the duration of the program, demonstrating an increasing level of responsibility and autonomy. 

Training scope:

  • Support the donation process by accepting, organizing, and with material handling of goods.
  • Assist with production, sorting product for quality to maximize value, pricing, and properly disposing of waste materials.
  • Provide best in class customer service and accurate register operation. 
  • Take an active role in observing and following safety rules and regulations while performing duties. 
  • Maintain professional interactions with internal and external customers, demonstrating respect and courtesy.
  • Consistently perform all duties aligned with Goodwill’s Core Values, showing respect for diversity, teamwork, and community.
  • Engage in learning opportunities and take on additional responsibilities as skill level increases.
  • Participate in regular check-ins with the Transitional Jobs Specialist to assess, update, and review personal goals and progress.
  • Complete tasks assigned by management and provided support to various departments as needed.

  • Willingness to learn a variety of tasks and actively participate in developing new skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively with others in a team-based environment.
  • Reliability and good attendance, with the ability to maintain consistent performance.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision, as skills improve, and progress is made through the program.
  • A positive, adaptable attitude and openness to learning new techniques and responsibilities.

Description of physical working environment:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the facility and use a full range of motion to lift push or pull up to 40 lbs. 
  • Work outside in hot or cold temperatures and inclement weather.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate.
