Selected candidates will have the opportunity to learn new skills as well as influencing the development of manufacturing processes to support this historical and game-changing progression to electric and autonomous vehicles.
Roles
The Electrical Diagnostician role is a key position at launch to support the plant in achieving electrical first time quality (E-FTQ) glide path. The primary responsibility is supporting electrical end of line (EOL) repair process. This role will collect data and information to help resolve the ongoing issues impacting EFTQ.
Responsibilities

  • Complete required training at various sites around GM and suppliers, travel required
  • Ensure documentation (schematics, tips, etc.) to help with early in plant builds for repairing new product, working with the PPO Lab Check team during IV Build at PPO for identification of faults and fixes.
  • Work with the Electrical IRT team to resolve EOL issues
  • Document lessons learned for process and product improvements.
  • Create actionable items from electrical failures to enable issue documentation and follow up.
  • Utilizes the plant quality reporting systems (i.e. GSIP/MERS/PRTS/SPPS) to identify and eliminate process / product variation.
  • Utilizes the applicable plant testing systems (ie NGFTT, AVT, DVT) to improve and correlate plant electrical performance
  • Reports pass rate performance for all applicable in plant testing systems (ie NGFTT, AVT, and DVT) and leads corrective action plans.
  • Support GCA
  • Report incorrect schematics to service for correction
  • Create training material and training bucks to train how the communication in the vehicle works
  • Conduct training of vehicle electrical systems for Team Leaders so they can support their Team Members using the Electrical Training Boards, PADs, JES, TIS, etc.
  • Lead disconnect workshop during launch to develop database for repair faults (knowledge based repair systems) in GSIP between PVBns and PVBs
  • Coordinate training for repairmen on service diagnostic tools (i.e. GDS2/MDI/Buffalo, via Raytheon or applicable company).
  • Key contact for Final Process Repairman helping with training, troubleshooting vehicle issues, repair root cause entry into RPM and GSIP, Service Information schematic and other issues, Plant repair diagnostic tool (GDS2/MDI) and reporting systems.
  • Learn new technologies associated with Global B Electrical Architecture and effectively transfer key learnings to appropriate plant team members
  • Lead Electrical troubleshooting efforts for Global B for the plant:
    • DVT/Repair Support
    • Diagnostic Trouble Shooting/No Trouble Found process
    • Software IRT issue closure tracking & support
  • Coordinate the collection of key learnings from plants launching Global B prior to your site - - Make sure they are implemented at your site
  • Thorough working knowledge of GMS as well supporting BIQ4 Deliverables.
  • Create Electrical Repair Standardized Work (Final Repair & Yard Campaigns)
  • Electrical Repair Training (Team Leaders & VAAs)
  • Support Proper GSIP Documentation (Upload Defect Pictures in GSIP)
  • Track all diagnostics issues to closure prior to SORP
  • Will report to the Lead Launch Electrical Coordinator


Deliverables

  • Report out EFTQ Launch performance on a weekly basis
  • Daily tracking report to show the status of each vehicle at each test station(Standard format)
  • Root cause analysis reports for top electrical issues for launch team
  • Track all diagnostics issues to closure prior to SORP


Required Skills:

  • Previous experience with automotive electrical sub-systems
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Able to make decisions quickly with a high level of confidence
  • Must be able to continually innovate
  • Must be able to help root cause highly complex issues and work well with Product and AVG Engineers and then translate executive summaries to non-technical people


Preferred Skills

  • Minimum 3 years previous experience with automotive electrical sub-systems
  • ASE certification or similar
  • Thorough working knowledge of GMS as well supporting BIQ4 Deliverables
