About the Role

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Latin America Relationship Manager to support the Americas Institutional Group (AIG) and independently lead a portfolio of institutional client and distribution-partner relationships across Latin America. The Relationship Manager will serve as a central point of contact for clients and internal partners, combining broad investment knowledge with disciplined relationship stewardship and execution across complex servicing requirements. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of the region's institutional markets, including client decision-making and servicing models, intermediary and distribution ecosystems, distribution and due diligence requirements, applicable regulatory and contractual considerations, and market trends shaping client priorities and business development opportunities.


The Relationship Manager will partner closely with Business Development Managers on shared accounts and collaborate with investment teams, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and other functional partners to support retention, business development priorities, and high-quality client outcomes. Success in this role requires the ability to operate independently, lead senior-level investment dialogue, manage multiple complex relationships, and coordinate effectively across a global investment organization.


RESPONSIBILITIES


Client and Distribution-Partner Leadership


  • Independently and proactively lead client and distribution-partner engagements across Latin America.
  • Develop a deep understanding of client investment objectives, decision-making structures, portfolio review needs, servicing expectations, and matters requiring escalation across the region.
  • Serve as a central point of contact internally and externally across institutional relationships, distribution partners, platforms, and other regional stakeholders.
  • Lead senior-level investment dialogue and respond to client inquiries across fixed income, equity, multi-asset, and asset allocation portfolios.
  • Build trusted relationships and represent client priorities across the firm.

Retention and Business Development Partnership


  • Partner closely with Business Development Managers on shared accounts.
  • Provide strategic support on client retention, defense strategies, and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Drive follow-through on active business development priorities and agreed client commitments.
  • Identify relationship risks, evolving client priorities, regional market trends, and opportunities for broader engagement and business development.
  • Balance client objectives, commercial priorities, and applicable firm requirements.

Client Servicing and Operational Coordination


  • Coordinate complex operational requirements, including distribution agreement mapping and setup, due diligence support and escalation, trade issues, payment inquiries and cycles, fund servicing, and platform-related inquiries.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts across the firm to onboard new accounts, process cash flows, and address client issues and opportunities.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, contractual, and firm requirements.
  • Manage training, knowledge sharing, and other servicing commitments and contractual obligations for strategic clients across the region.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders and maintain accountability for client deliverables and timely issue resolution.

Process Improvement and Team Contribution


  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve regional servicing workflows.
  • Support internal initiatives that translate recommendations into practical process improvements.
  • Share regional knowledge and insights that strengthen account coverage and team effectiveness.
  • Contribute to an inclusive culture of collaboration and excellence and serve as a role model to the broader team.
 Other Qualifications
  • Experienced relationship management professional with broad investment knowledge, a strong understanding of institutional client needs, and the ability to represent fixed income, equity, multi-asset, and asset allocation portfolios to clients.
  • Executive presence, strong written communication and presentation skills, and the ability to engage external audiences with credibility.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Spanish and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time to support client coverage across the region.
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple complex client relationships, and collaborate effectively with Business Development, investment teams, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and other functional partners.
  • Proactivity, sound judgment, and a demonstrated willingness to learn and grow within the role.
  • CFA, CAIA, or an advanced degree would be viewed favorably where relevant to the candidate profile.

Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary, variable compensation, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is:

USD 120,000 - 225,000

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.   

 

Base salary is only one component of Wellington’s total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
