We are seeking a Lateral Conflicts Attorney to join our Conflicts & Business Review Department, which is part of the Firm’s General Counsel’s Office. Ideal candidates will possess strong analytical skills, team mentality, and the ability to work on large projects on tight deadlines. This role will report directly to the Associate Director of Lateral Conflicts.This is an opportunity to join a collaborative team focused on supporting the Firm’s lateral hiring function.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of conflict questionnaires and conflict reports to identify and resolve potential business and ethical conflicts prior to lateral attorneys joining the Firm or transferring work to the Firm.
- Draft and review conflicts memoranda, waiver letters, and notice letters; advise on conflicts of interest analysis and related Firm policies; and communicate required next steps to lawyers and staff before a lateral attorney may join the Firm.
- Advise on issues under the rules of professional responsibility.
- Work with lateral candidates and Firm personnel to facilitate the onboarding of new hires and open transferring matters.
- Respond promptly to incoming inquiries and shifting priorities.
- Compare and analyze large volumes of information under tight deadlines.
- Work closely with the Associate Director of Lateral Conflicts and a team of Lateral Conflicts Attorneys.
- Other duties or projects may be assigned by the Associate Director of Lateral Conflicts or Director of Conflicts & New Business Intake.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.); minimum three years of legal work experience after law school preferred; and an active law license in the jurisdiction in which the candidate is located.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills, strong organizational skills, and a working knowledge of the rules of professional conduct.
- Demonstrate sound judgment, respond promptly, and perform well under pressure while adapting to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Previous conflicts experience including reviewing conflict reports, researching corporate affiliations, drafting waivers, advising Firm lawyers on conflict or relationship issues and relevant Firm policies, and knowledge of conflict rules across U.S. and non-U.S. jurisdictions is preferred, but not required.
OTHER:
- Primary availability during business hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (EST) with flexibility to work outside of this standard schedule as needed.
- Periodic on-call rotation required, and remote work is an option, subject to location approval by the Firm. Occasional travel to Atlanta office may be required.
The firm offers a generous total compensation package with bonuses and raises awarded in recognition of individual merit-based performance. Pay Transparency Range:
New York, Washington, DC, Chicago, Denver, Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Silicon Valley : Full-time annualized salary range $145,000-$160,000.
The salary offer will be contingent upon various factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, internal equity, market data, job location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
