The Category Ops Project Specialist is responsible for driving operational excellence across the full project lifecycle within their given category - from category opportunity vetting to end to end opportunity management. This involves managed sales and B2B category stakeholder management coordination, customer and post-order communication, as well as order execution. This role acts as the central Account Management and Enterprise large project category owner - ensuring seamless handoffs, project deliverable alignment, resolving roadblocks, and facilitating clear communication to achieve successful project outcomes. In addition to project management, the category specialists will execute against sales capabilities and order placement, as the subject matter experts of the category. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Opportunity Vetting
    • Gather key deliverable, product, and logistics details - including project scope, timelines, and delivery requirements.
    • Determine feasibility and next steps for customer engagement. 
    • Request additional insight and specs on the category project directly with the customer, providing visibility to the managed sales partner engagement.
  • End to End Opportunity Management & Project Prioritization
    • Partner with managed field sales teams to communicate with customers on project needs and budget, ensuring inclusion in the opportunity submission. 
    • Evaluate and prioritize projects based on potential value, partner lead times on deliverables, and customer deadline for completion.
    • Maintain visibility into the project pipeline to support proactive planning.
    • Align internal stakeholders and resources for execution, driving a timeline for completion forward.
  • Stakeholder & Customer Communication Strategy
    • Coordinate across relevant PSG team members to ensure smooth workflows and completion of the project in a timely manner. 
    • Act as the communication bridge between managed sales teams and Large Project team members to be the single source of truth for project needs.
    • Track and document opportunity timeline and needs to reduce friction and improve efficiency.
    • Drive key supplier negotiations and issue resolution by effectively partnering with sales ops on execution.
    • Coordinate with B2B category management stakeholders to ensure close alignment on category pricing strategy, product selection, and inventory positioning. 
  • Project Roadblock Escalation & Resolution
    • Identify and address risks or delays across the project lifecycle.
    • Escalate issues to relevant stakeholders and proactively provide recommended solutions to managed sales teams. 
    • Drive accountability and follow-up on open items until resolution, prior to order placement to project installation.
  • Order Execution & Procurement
    • Source and procure products for a category project, ensuring availability, quality, and alignment with project needs.
    • Place and track category-specific orders accurately and on time to support the project timeline.
    • Own category relevant project quoting, including bulk requests and tag items per room location. 
    • Manage SKU reselects and substitute out-of-stock items efficiently to avoid project delays and maintain the initial order integrity.
  • Post-Order Project Completion
    • Maintain visibility into final delivery, installation, and possible project delays - coordinating with the customer on their timing and managing the customers specific needs.  
    • Coordinate post-order support between the Service and the Large Project delivery/installation team, effectively facilitating next steps to complete the project.
