Summary/Objective

This position is responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical processes associated with probe manufacturing, performance, and report generation. The position provides day-to-day maintenance of bacterial clones, reagents, equipment, laboratory environment and additional duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

  • Meet and maintain basic proficiency and competence of required procedure as outlined by supervisory staff.
  • Follow the laboratory's procedures for probe production and documentation.
  • Maintain records that demonstrate probe performance and quality control.
  • Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, perform instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance.
  • Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
  • Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect production and lab operations and either correct problems or immediately notify the general supervisor or Operations Officer.
  • Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
  • Helps to maintain a safe working environment by strict adherence to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Is alert to the existence of safety hazards and reports any unsafe conditions to the department manager.
  • Assist in monitoring test analyses to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
  • Isolation of DNA using manual and automated techniques.
  • Quality testing of reagents and maintenance of instrumentation.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum one (1+) year experience in a commercial lab environment preferred.
  • Excellent laboratory and organizational skills.
  • Sound knowledge of molecular biology techniques.
  • Must be able to work independently & be a good communicator.
  • Must be a quick learner of new technologies.
  • Possess a high tolerance for change.

Compensation Range

  • $21 - $24 hourly 

Expected Hours of Work

  • 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. This position may require extended weekday or weekend hours depending on business needs.
