The Laboratory Technical Assistant processes (including complex and multiple-step processing) and prepares specimens for Clinical Laboratory and Reference Laboratory testing. The Laboratory Technical Assistant may operate automated laboratory instrumentation to assist in laboratory testing, and may perform or participate with the CLS in certain portions of semi-automated and manual testing procedures. The Laboratory Technician Assistant my receive blood components into Blood Processing, prepare and assignment of plasma products for patients, in addition to placing orders with the blood supplier and assists CLS on other blood bank functions. May assist with inventory of laboratory section supplies, and may assist with Quality Assurance data collection and recording, and action/follow-up. May function as lab phlebotomist as required, and is qualified to perform duties in multiple laboratory sections or operational departments.

Required Qualifications:
- Upon hire: California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I License or
- Upon hire: California Certified Phlebotomy Technician II License or
- Upon hire: California Medical Laboratory Technician License
- Laboratory technical (analytical assistant) background.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coursework/Training: College-level science courses.
- 1 year experience as a laboratory analytical assistant.
- 3 years experience in blood specimen collections on adults and children in a hospital environment.
- 1 year experience as a technical laboratory (analytical) assistant in acute care facility, including supervised operation and maintenance of automated laboratory instrumentation.
