Exciting Opportunity at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center: Join the Frederic Geissmann Lab as a Laboratory Manager!
The Geissmann Lab at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center studies the development and function of macrophages, monocytes, and dendritic cells to understand how immune cells influence tissue growth, metabolism, and cancer progression. As a Lab Manager, you would play a critical role in enabling this research by overseeing laboratory operations, supporting complex experimental workflows, and ensuring the team has the resources needed to drive discoveries. Your leadership would help accelerate research aimed at harnessing the immune system to prevent cancer growth and metastasis, ultimately contributing to better treatments for patients.
Role Overview:
- Oversee laboratory operations and ensure compliance with safety regulations, biohazard requirements, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Manage laboratory equipment and mouse colony, facilities, quality assurance programs, and operational planning to support an efficient research environment.
- Coordinate collaborations with internal and external research partners and facilitate the compliant transfer of research materials.
- Monitor laboratory performance, prepare operational reports, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Partner with Research Fund Managers to develop budgets, monitor expenses, manage purchasing activities, and support grant-related initiatives.
- Serve as a key liaison between the laboratory, institutional stakeholders, and external collaborators.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biology/life sciences and 4-7 years of research and lab operations experience.
Core Skills:
- Proven organizational and project management skills with the ability to coordinate laboratory resources, equipment, mouse colony, facilities, and operational activities efficiently.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset to identify operational challenges and implement effective solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build productive relationships with scientists, institutional stakeholders, vendors, and external collaborators.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and ensuring timely completion of operational priorities.
- Ability to work independently while fostering a collaborative, service-oriented environment that supports scientific research and innovation.

Skills Required
